You bought it? I can't wait for the review. biggrin.gif

My sample from MSI will not be full retail.. but the changes from the layout of mine do not affect OC or feature set.

1. We are fine tuning the board and ensuring it is solid before it hits the market.
2. We plan on using a component on the board that is new, and not in full production yet.

Stay tuned for more details...

Needless to say it looks like its another POS in a long line of POS from EVGA

Wow, new motherboard designs, that will really shake things up, cause the motherboard determines performance riiiight. But seriously why is everyone so impressed with these boards? they have nothing an average user needs any more than the 1155 boards did, 6 sata6 ports ooooohhh, are you going to raid 6 SSD's to play famville?. What normal user needs or can use DDR3 4000? I will stick with my IVY these CPU's are too much of a crapshoot for OC'ing due to the internal VRM.

I am not impressed by this release, and still pissed off about the TIM.mad.gif

I will probably end up picking uo the gigabyte z87 z-oc. At $200 seems like a great deal.

My biggest issue so far is the crossfire spacing. Im using EK universal water blocks with bridges so I need the cards to line up without extra spacing. Most all the new boards have 3 slots, or more, between the first and second PCI x16. The Giga OC is 16x 4x which Im not fond of, Id prefer at least 8x 8x, but Im not going to spend another $200 for it.

Dont misunderstand, these boards are visually stunning, and feature rich,

But what I am trying to say is that the 3 recommended motherboards are for Overclockers, which is great, but these CPUs are being reported as poor overclockers. Now maybe the reports i've read didnt delid and hit the thermal, who knows but having great motherboards doesn't make up for a user unfriendly product. And if we have to delid it IS unfriendly.

from toms i7 article "And although it appears we received fairly overclockable samples of the -4770K, industry consensus amongst the companies with hundreds of these chips on-hand is that, at safe input voltages, 4.3 or 4.4 GHz should be OK. The luckiest enthusiasts might get 4.5 or 4.6 GHz. Skill won’t get you far; Haswell is all about luck of the draw due to its integrated voltage regulator.

So, for the second time in a week, we’re disappointed. Haswell has a lot to offer, just not to desktop enthusiasts."

The motherboards are nice, but as a whole platform, meh.

Just my opinion
