First build - rad question

Thread Starter
Hi OCN,

I am about to embark on my first watercooled build. I use my current sig rig for gaming and photo/video rendering with an OC of 4.2-4.4Ghz CPU and 1150mhz GPU. My objective is a quiet build that can hopefully accommodate the future revisions of my current spec, ie 1 CPU & 2 GPUs.

I really like the size/layout of the caselabs SMH10 but I am wondering if 1x480mm & 1x240mm rads can adequately cool my current rig. The rads I had in mind were hardware labs SR1s with AP-15s at 7v/~1100rpm.

Thanks.

I've cooled a dual GPU cpu and board block with a single gtx 480 so I would say that would be no problem at all

For just a single CPU and a single GPU 480 mm plus 240 mm should be a non-issue. If you want to you can look up the TDP's for the CPU and GPU, and then look at information on how much TDP is dissipated per rad real estate under which conditions somewhere like at Martin's liquid lab/ to get a better understanding of it. That should give you a better idea with 2 GPU's depending on which GPU's they are.

To be honest though, the SMH10 can fit 2 x 480 mm rads (or 1 x 480 mm and 1 x 560 mm), so personally I'd just go ahead and put those max sizes in smile.gif
