Upgrade to 780?

Thread Starter
I currently have 2x MSI GTX 560ti Twin Frozr II's 2GB and am wondering if it would be a good idea to upgrade to a 780 or wait another year for 800 series?

Also any benchmarks for 780 vs 560ti sli?

Thanks

1080p single monitor gaming? Any plans to go to a higher resolution? Which games?

Yea 1080. Currently use 1900x1200, don't think that will change anytime soon. As far as games go I play just about everything. Currently Metro: Last Light, Wargame: AirLand Battle, Borderlands 2, AC3, and BF3.

I want this card to be good for Star Citizen though, thats the next biggest thing for me to play graphics wise along with Battlefield 4, The Witcher 3, Total War: Rome II, and Watch Dogs.

The good news with your 560s is that you have 2gb of vram to work with. 2gb is enough for almost everything @1080p

I'd say 560ti sli is like a gtx 680 and a gtx 780 is about 20% faster than a gtx 680.

I think it's worth the switch for the 3gb of vram(future games/mod) and just having the perks of a single gpu.

no the thing is its no enough GPU, go with the 780 i got one trust me you wont be disappointed, 384 bus on thjis card with 3 gig ram, almost every game can utilize it these days, don't listen to anyone that tells you its enough for 1080p cuz its not, i play at 1080p and trust me this card kicks ass, i had 2 680 sli, this card almost as good as that setup my bench scores prove it, and then u can upgrade in future get another 780 trust me sell your. folks will tell you its plenty BUT ITS NOT battlefield 4 is coming out you will need all the vram u can get

I use this site to compare benchmarks for games I play - gpu 2013 and 2012 is what you're looking for.

If you got the cash I think the 780 is about the only upgrade worth the cash for you. You'll only need 1 at that resolution for a while. You can SLI much later when the price drops and the gaming demand necessitates.
