Anyone here have the OCZ ZX Series 850W? Looking for opinions

I recently went with sli on my Asus 660 ti DirectCU II and I noticed with my current power supply(Raidmax 630W) makes a slight buzzing/humming while under heavy GPU loads(90+usages) and looking to replace it with a much better one. Newegg has a decent sale on the OCZ 850W and wanted opinions on their build quality or if there is something else in the same price range that's better for me. Do you all think the buzzing/humming from the Raidmax is because I'm drawing very close to the max power causing it to make the noise? If it's perfectly normal, then I might not need a new PSU.

P.S. Don't rag me on the crappy Raidmax, I know it's not the greatest but it seems to run everything just fine, except for the noise...lol...

That Raidmax PSU you have is god awful crap almost anything yet alone the OCZ ZX would be better

The OCZ ZX is made by Great Wall and the ZX might be their best unit at least what i have seen so far from them

850 watts is way overkill unless you plan on two videos and cray overclocks on them and the CPU as well as a full blown water setup

650-750 watts is more in line with what you need for normal two card systems

It would costs you more money to run that in the long run then if you picked a unit suited to your needs

Not telling you that you sould not buy it just telling you its money wasted on nothing in the long run

If you are not going to have two video cards then this would be suited to your power needs

I was under the assumption that even if someone had a 1200W power supply, you only draw as much power as you need, so if I need say 500W the power supply isn't always drawing the max from the wall but only what you need and that would mean using no more power then you need right? A 850W isn't always drawing that much unless the hardware is using it right?

You misunderstand a PSU is most efficient between 50% and 80% load but under 20% load there is no rules or standards for efficiency
So very often it drops like a rock below 20% load use a gold could very well run as a silver or bronze or even lower

Lower efficiency means more power wasted and turned into heat so not only are you paying more money for buying overkill you are paying more on your power bill and you are also making more heat
