[Metro]Chris Lewis confirms Xbox One Live Gold fee for online gaming plus ‘we will support second-hand games’. - Page 12

Can someone clarify me on this: Why does MMOs get to charge a subscription fee but XBL must be free? The only thing I hate about live is the fact that you need gold in order to use stuff like netflix, where it's free everywhere else. Microsoft doesn't seem to have a dedicated server for Netflix so why is that included? If it was $10 a month for gaming then I can't see why you would get mad.

you know how he keeps dodging and manipulating his answers?......he is hiding, and that makes me wonder.....should consumers wait a while before purchasing?......you know what I mean?......don't get it on the opening day or even a month after......let enough reviews and tests be performed so it is easier to decide.......he basically keeps saying "just wait. just wait"......so when sales won't be doing good, we'll just say "just wait. just wait" smile.gif ......just for fun, swap GC with CL or M$, and CL with GC or consumers, and pretend CL/M$ is asking GC/consumers if we'll be buying it biggrin.gif

so i gotta pay the company to use my own internet (which i also pay for) to play games online when the PS4, PC and WiiU offer that for free? LOL nope.

This device has had nothing but bad news surround it since it's debut, at this point they need a miracle to get me to show interest in it.

Yeah...I have a xbox 360...but not a live account...Only buy xbox games if I want to play the story mode in them...Otherwise I will buy the PS version(if there is one)...Not paying 60 bucks a year just to be able to play multiplayer and watch Netflix (which I already have to pay a subscription to (and am fine with doing))....

To be honest it will prolly even be a couple of years before I get a ps4...Prolly wait till their first price mark down.

PC > PS > Xbox...Now I am just waiting for the day that Games for Windows starts charging a fee to play those online...

I don't play MMOs but don't they get updates all the time? Plus the servers. Online play and crap like party chat are P2P on xbox so what the hell am I paying for? Oh yea, to see ads on the the home screen.

I don't think they will. Its funny to see that Wii-U sales have gone up by 250% (I'm not exaggerating) since they announced that they will be finishing off adding all the Nintendo 64 games to their online library, and will start working on N64 games. Also they fixed their emulator so you can change any control to any button. Sony will probably announce something similar to this to increase their sales too. Both companies know that Micro-Soft is making wrong move's here.

100 is too big... I use 20 p/p.

I don't think this is a problem. People have been paying for XBOX LIVE since the beginning of the Xbox. I have both the Xbox 360 and a PS3 and I don't mind paying for the Gold membership as I find their interface much easier to navigate. I don't really understand the reason for Netflix not being free to watch but at the same time you didn't buy the Xbox 360 so you could solely watch Netflix as I'm sure everyone has a computer or hand held device that can watch it without a problem and have it hooked to the TV for no more than $30.

I like that people have to pay as it keeps some people who shouldn't be playing off the servers and also keeps people from making smurf accounts and harrassing others because they have nothing better to do. I also never get into lobbies with people who have mics on PS3 but on Xbox 360 that is never an issue. They doesn't have any connection with price but I would rather pay and get more refined features and have the ability to communicate with others.

I am a PC gamer anyways but my friends don't like to play shooters on the PC so I am stuck getting them on a console. I think this entire thing has been blown out of proportion. People complain about the Xbox One but at the same time there really isn't ANY information available for the PS4. Just wait for release as there is plenty of time for change and things WILL change.
