I post one rebuttal:

Find me a similar service that doesn't charge for users to play on-line over...By similar, I mean of equal quality.

Precisely. Do we all wish Xbox Live was free. OF COURSE WE DO.

But, Xbox Live to PSN is not an apples to apples comparison, so saying "well the Playstation does it for free!" does not even begin to cover some basics.

When or IF PSN equals or surpasses Xbox Live, then we'll have a big bone to pick with MS (or sony will just charge more for their services)

Second hand sales is a right of the consumer, and a pivotal part of a free market society.

no kidding.

consider this, you probably can't even give away your old games for free to a friend without ms taking a cut

Needless to say, the issue with used sales is just a minor issue (a complete non-issue to most)

yep keep talking about gamestop, though no one has mentioned it but you. besides we both know what is actually being taken away: choice and consumer rights. the right to sell used is a protected consumer right in europe.

if the video game industry is having so much trouble, maybe they should adopt to the market, rather than cutting off consumer rights for their own benefit. basically, they should behave like every other industry in existence

Okay, understood. Just never really had myself in that perspective of buying a used game.

To think GameStop is irrelevant to his conversation is ridiculous though -____-

Still beg to ask the question though about Steam/Origin/GFWL or games with heavy internet integration such as StarCraft (battlenet). Where was all the fuss about that? (except for Sim City, EA butchered that)

Honestly, if the games are good enough, I'd hope that some of you would want to support the developers and buy it new. Even if you have to wait for the price drop. Sure, they don't honestly care about you....but still, every little bit counts

Isn't that what they're doing? They're not disallowing used game sales. They're making it so they still get a cut from them.

Well technically they aren't "disallowing," they're just making it harder. You'd just have to go through authorized retailer with that Azure agreement.

Also, although I know our government bends over for any lobbyist, wouldn't MS be sued in the US/EU if they were truly hindering some of our own consumer rights?

After a moment of thinking, I suppose I'm not really arguing against the idea of used sales (who am i kidding, we'd all love cheaper prices), I'm sure arguing against the idea that a somebody would completely shut out the possibility of purchasing a console solely for this reason. A bit rash if you ask me, though we're all a different in our views and extremes.

Technically, yes...However, the current focus atm is on the "evil kinect spy scope" and how Microsoft is going to watch us be indecent in our homes!

Which is actually, entirely false...But, since everyone is riding that horse, there haven't been many responses to the 2nd hand gaming situation.

As per the EU, they'll side against it considering the 2nd hand market in the EU is much larger, then ours (on a whole)...So, it will be interesting to see what happens...
