ISP Screwed me over

Thread Starter
I was having connection problems with an old modem that got up to 5mb/s almost all the time and what it was doin was that it would still have blinking lights but i couldnt get any page to show up

so i had someone come over and they replaced it with a different one and now im getting about 2mb/s

I called them and they said it fluctuates throughout the whole day , I knew that but i've done many test on speedtest to actually see if i would get anywheres near 5 but no, Its staying AT 2MB/S

What the hell should i do?!!?

well a couple hours ago i did a live chat with one of the peopl and he told me about a free hands program where he would take contorl of my pc and try to figure out the problem, after about 20-30 mins of tinkering ,he did not find the solution

so now they have to get a network specialist to look at some data the guy took

i wish i had a better internet , i see the people with the top speeds and 30,000 kb/s??? holy god

When I lived in New York 4 months ago, I had optimum online. The connection was 30MBPS Down (Meaning I get 3MB/s downloads) and 300KB/s Up. I used speakeasy's speedtest to New York server and I surprisingly got the correct download speed (200KB/s off but who cares) and the upload was right too. Then, I tried it somewhere else (I think washington) and got a slower download speed.

When your ISP tells you 30MBPS Connection, it's 3MB/s in your city or somewhere nearby. Also, consider the speed of the server your downloading from which may be slower thus hindering your download speeds further.

Umm.. 30MBPS is not 3mb/s. It's 30000/8=kb/s, meaning you should get 3750kb/s. (3.66 mb/s)
