[vg247] PS4 will not require an always online connection and, it will not block the use of second hand titles. - Page 8

You guys saw how the article said that Sony said it would be left up to the publishers what kind of DRM to have for used games, right? That means all games will have some sort of DRM to prevent used sale. Which will require an internet connection to verify. So again we are left with something that is functionally identical to what Microsoft is proposing. DRM restricting second hand sales and internet required for full functionality.

I don't see how anyone is reading this as anything different from what Microsoft is proposing.

You do realize that sentence doesn't say DRM is required, it simply means any (if at all) DRM will be up to the developer.

If the PS4 is much more expensive then casual gamer's will be more inclined to go for a Xbox or Wii U.

By this point the X Box is out of the question. It's just Wii U or PS4.

Personally I would get the Wii U because I love the games on it. So much stupid fun (and then Super Smash Bros U or whatever it's going to be called. Was hoping for another SMG franchise since I love both of the Galaxy games). I'll probably only get a Dualshock 4 if it works for PC games.

Because there are titles you cant play on PC and vice versa. I'm a gamer, not a platform evangelical. I get to play all the PC titles I want and I get to play console exclusive games which are incredible that will never see a PC release.

Best of both worlds. Best of both experiences.

I believe I have a game-changer to this discussion. Publishers requiring online activation is already possible on PS3! Sony has no such regulation to prohibit it (that we know of) and the technology is certainly there to do it... So, why is it more or less likely on PS4?

Because 1 publisher will do it and all will follow. Especially companies who make no money on sales who sell a few 1000 units.

Yup, which will mean you'll have to have an online account with Sony too and accept their PS4 updates and EULA changes to maintain the account.

I have never owned a console I wanted or needed an internet connection for and I never will.

It will be mandatory to have an online account, as I've said in another thread, Sony are just saying things so well the average consumer cannot read around it, or don't think outside the box.
Good at least you aren't complaining like everyone else, if you don't want it don't buy it. Not that hard people.

that doesn't mean they are necessarily going to require you to log on everyday. it could be more like steam (every 30 days) which is definitely nice in instances of internet outtage. or they might not require you to log on monthly at a-it could just be necessary for the online store (like itunes etc)
