Looking for the right power supply

Thread Starter
Ok, So I'm looking at a few different power supplys, but I found the rosewill lightning (with all the pretty lights haha) 1000 W at a very good price. Its pretty much overkill I know, but is it quality wattage? and is it bad to have too much wattage available?

Here is the rig I've put together

https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/MySavedWishDetail.aspx?ID=23138646

HELP ME NOT BE IGNORANT!!!!

This is my first build ever so please help me get it right. Also I plan on doing some gaming and video editing as well as school work. I am an engineer so I will be running AutoCAD. Those of you who don't know what autoCAD is it's basically a drafting program where engineer's or scientist can scale there plan's for different projects fairly intricate program, but I'm not sure exactly how intense it is as far as graphics or what have you.

I already tol you in another thread where you could find all info and reviews so making a whole new thread just to ask is overkill

Dude I get where your coming from, but that thread does not specifically talk about the 1000 W Rosewill lightning. That is the power supply I am looking for info on. So please help me do that or get off my thread. I'm not trying to be rude but I mean i state that explicitly. Plus this is like my second time on this site so I am still just trying to figure it out

that thread only talks about the capston and the hive. Which I do appreciate you putting it out there for me because I've decided to go with the capstone if I dont get this lightning

Here's the link to your wishlist

You have a motherboard with only the ability to 2-way SLI/CFX. With only a single 660Ti, a 450w would be plenty to power it and an IB processor. Two: 650w.

The flashy Rosewill Lightning is also based on the Superflower Golden Green unit, so it's an excellent power supply. Even the 800w variant sold on Newegg is overkill for that setup though.

Ya, I am well aware I'm overkilling it haha. I do know that in the future I want to add at least one video card, a sound card, and what ever other goodies the future holds. So I am planning ahead. I just purchased the rosewill lightning off of ebay for about 115 so that's no longer up for debate lol. However, I would like to hear people's opinions of the rest of the rig as of now. I want to be sure everything is going to work well together and make a hell of a computer
