thanks man, i think i forgot to enable it when i installed AISuite, now my other question is, my phone (nexus 4) charges fine, but my iPad (3rd Gen) does not charge while the comp is off. it used to charge on the Gigabyte ... how is this possible?

Think it has to do with how much power it needs to charge with. The AI power doesn't send as much when powered off

MOst boards have jumpers to select the USB port power - it can be set for the +5V rail (turns off with the PC) or +5VSB (Always on, when PC is plugged in, but powered off) You'll have to check the jumper setting for the port in question, if you want it powered when your PC is off.

Oh, and only enable ports you need power to when the machine is off, when you change the jumpers, the peripherals on that port are powered by the +5VSB of the PSU - which is usually rated between 2A-3A (most modern supplies are 3A), If you put too many ports (devices) on the +5VSB, it would be possible to overload that part of the PSU.

ARGH! I downloaded the manual, and i've hunted through it, and it seems your board doesn't have the jumpers I was taking about. Sorry! SO it looks like your ports may only be powered when the system is on. There is a thing in the AI Suite called AI Charger+ - but that just seems to set the charge profile of the USB 3.0 ports - so you could fast charge stuff on your USB 3's with this on, but I doubt it'll do it when the machines off.

Sorry I couldn't help. I just thought it would be similar to my board - I've a cheap ASUS, and it has jumpers to power the USB ports when the machine is off.

I really think it has to do with amperage.. perhaps when the ipad is plugged in when the computer is off it is not reading enough amps to reconize a charge... this is a theory however droid phones dont need as much amperage as they are optimized for usb
