3820 vs 4670K?

Thread Starter
I haven't seen any benches comparing the i7 3820 and i5 4670K, so in raw gaming performance, which is better?

I would go with 3820 if you have multiple video cards

The only reason to buy the 2011 Socket is to upgrade to IB-E or because you have multiple video cards and need the PCIE lanes.. even then unless you plan on running 4+ cards it doesn't seem like a wise investment.

If you plan on overclocking you're better off with a 2700k to be honest.

I'd give the nod to the i5-4670K for raw gaming performance as it is newer therefore has superior IPC. The 3820 is no slouch though and would be my personal pick strictly because of the extra threads which could come handy in a few years' time.

If you happen to live close to a Micro Center, the i7-3820 can be had for $230 -- a steal thumb.gif

Okay, I would stick with the 3820 then. Thanks.
