My guess is the MAJORITY do. That is why W8 isn't selling! PC with W8 aren't selling! And tablets with W8 aren't selling!

Stop thinking that you guys that support W8 are so great at adjusting and evolving to new software so something. W8 is a major fail plain and simple. That is why 8.1 is coming out because customers and companies aren't happy. Too bad that it makes you guys look bad. W8 will never be successful. All MS had to do is give options to customers, like to add or take away the old start menu. That way everyone would be happy. They would have sold so many more OS and better press. Don't blame people that don't want to move to 8, blame Microsoft for treating their customers like trash.

exactly thumb.gif .......most people forget that beta version of 8 had the classic shell AND 7's aero theme......what, did M$ somehow thought that it wouldn't sell well with it in?.....they pulled it out in the final version.....and when a registry hack was created to enable it, M$ took down the website that released it, AND released a patch to disable it.....WHY?....from a business standpoint I just don't get it......if people were defending the new Xbox One saying how you can't blame M$ because they're going where the money is, how can you support them here?.....all they had to do, ALL they had to do was leave it in there for people to choose, to have a choice......"i'm loving the new interface, how about you?"....."the new metro ui is cool, but I'm partial to the classic"

Because I am.
Not useless at all. I know a lot of people who still use it, and it's reliable, stable and does everything they need. I still install XP on basic PC's for people occasionally, because I know they understand it, it just works, and I have a ton of licenses for it. If I tried to give them Windows 8, they'd freak out and not know what to do unless I taught them, and I have better things to do.

It's not that hard to come by now, and it actually still works very well, save a few issues with programs and driver issues on older hardware. I actually run XP x64 as the primary OS on my laptop (a C2D 2 GHz, 2 GB of RAM), to get the benefit of 64-bit operation without the overhead of Vista or 7. It's incredibly stable, because it's actually 64-bit Windows Server 2003 with Luna bolted on.

Multimonitor support is significantly better in Windows 8. Native ISO mounter is also very convenient.

Being sent to the Start Screen while scrolling seems like you're unknowingly activating gestures.

Also, the quickest fix for disabling Metro apps is to simply uninstall any unwanted Metro application. Yes, you can uninstall any of those stock apps, right from the Start Screen or All Apps menu.

Anyways... this thread is amusing... Windows 8 went up in marketshare and still being called a failure...

Ive had a gaming PC with Windows 8 and as a gamer to a fellow gamer I would not ever recommend it to them.

And with the laptop I've had for 7 months. Everyday i have one moment that i feel like throwing the laptop through the window. I actually have a hack app for a fake start button. Its sooo good. but lets not dewell on the start button. Its just the fact that alot of hardware is incompatible and not supported. Maybe in a few years it will be fine but for me a tech freak that spends a lot on PC gear why should i be a pleb and be the one that nuts out fixes and hacks for issues when i have windows 7 that is proven and just simply works with out issues. The smart people are letting other be the sheep to Microsoft. We are not interested in being the beta testers. When its all fixed we will come along and say thanks for fixing it, this is how it should have been from the start.

Customers are stupid. EA Games still didn't go bankrupt last time I checked. The vast majority still only buy Intel laptops, etc. Nobody is forcing you to buy Windows 8. Windows 7 is still available for retail.

bingo.

According to the majority of OCN I must be some kind of idiot fanatic. I love Windows 8 and it actually pained me and SLOWED ME DOWN to work on computers with Windows 7. Sort of like how people feel about XP.

The sad part is most people here never even gave Windows 8 an honest try. They are simply hating it because it's the current OCN Bandwagon. Just like Apple hate. Just like CoD hate. Razer Blade hate. Forum went super downhill in the last 8 months regarding the news section. It's like 50% of posters turned into pseudo-intellectuals incapable of any critical thinking.

We dont need to buy Windows 7 because we already have it. You never delete your ex from your mobile just incase you want a booty call.
Now I have a copy of a Lame windows 8 in my draw and another copy on my laptop that annoys me everyday. I think I've given windows 8 more than an honest try.

We dont hate because we want to hate. We hate because their is a reason. We believe in companies providing a product with good will attached. None of this lock a phone down so you cant use it. Rebirthing games with a different title. We stand up for ourselves and dont accept mediocre. We dont float through life accepting what the media tells us either.

I'm denying it. Most people I know don't mind Windows 8, and the 8.1 update is going to make it even better (and might actually convince me to uninstall StartIsBack)

I'm sorry to rant on. At the moment I'm focussing to much on the negatives. There is some good to Windows 8. But for me at the moment for my main rig/gaming computer i can not commit to it because there are underlying problems that can not be fixed at the moment. Ill revist when its fixed. I have no problem with the UI and getting around and i was able to get a hack for the start button. Maybe in a year ill re assess.

The majority of you should be used to the trolls by now. Haters gonna hate.

I personally find that Windows 8 gives me the nicest OS experience yet. I was not sold on the idea of it upon my initial usage, but as time passed I got the hang of things...I can guarantee I am more productive with business processes when doing work related stuff. Additionally, everything is responsive and not sluggish. I have yet to experience a major crash/freeze. Windows 8 is definitely Microsoft's nicest OS yet (though Windows 7 is very close).

I bet I'm ten times the power user you are and I ALWAYS use the Start menu. My company has more than thirty custom apps. The first three letters of any are the same as at least seven or eight other apps. Most of those apps I use at most once per week, once per month, or once per quarter.

Beyond that, there is no way I am going to spend time teaching friends and family how to navigate through the metro crap. I had too much of that dealing with teaching them how to navigate the Office ribbon for me to ever go through that nonsense again.
