Why are people hating on Call of Duty: Ghost? - Page 4

1) To be a modern-military shooter in which you are a U.S. marine who kills Russians, Arabs (and soon to be the next main baddies in FPS, the Chinese)
2) To have a sequel released every two years
3) To be marketed all over the place and have sales figures that match those of Call of Duty otherwise it's deemed a failure
4) A singleplayer campaign and multiplayer both half-baked into the same game
5) Realistic graphics at the expense of a unique art style and graphical cleanliness (no low-polygon models and low-resolution/low-detail textures, a lot of games sacrifice these for stupid post-processing effects)
6) Real-life military weapons
7) Linear, predictable, dull level designs and cookie-cutter gameplay mechanics
8) Over-the-top, cinematic stories with "emotional" music
9) To be restricted from modding... because you know... modders are nothing more than scum who like to hack games and ruin the fun for everyone (and in order sell developer-made DLC for more profits)
10) To have DLC released every few months as a sorry excuse for players to keep playing the game

I like a lot of 90s FPS and indie FPS because they are generally faster-paced, have sci-fi weapons and enemies, vivid level design and have beautiful artistic graphics. Some of them also have nice, gritty metal soundtracks too. Plus, a lot of these games are modder-friendly so you can get a lot of awesome community-made mods that can make the game last a lifetime.

I agree with most of this.

Yeah but Dice really puts their graphics out there and the destruction in the Battlefield games has really upped the fun factor. Watching buildings of baddies topple inside them has never felt so good.

Opinion? More like majority rule on the pc side. Call of duty is not a pc game anymore. It has been consolized so that drunken frat boys can actually have a fighting chance online.

Unreal Engine 3 is marketed as an engine and runs amazingly well. Homefront was a much better game than any COD game. I had so much fun playing with the shadow resolution in Homefront too. Unreal Engine 3 games usually have a way of adding custom levels into the mix.

Modelswap != Destruction.

Majority? Sure, explains why Blops 2 is up the top on Steam.
And BF3 is just as easy to get into as CoD is.
You run - Ignore recoil (its not even there really) and kill bad guys.

Over 25million people got MW2.
How many got BF3? 10ish?

Guess people prefer tiny maps with fast gameplay and not a "IcantmakeupmymindaboutwhatIwanttobeBF3" hybrid like BF3.

Well said! As much as people hate on CoD, IW has found a formula that works and pleases their fans. They are doing what most people want their favorite developer to do: keep making the same awesome game while changing the content. That is what most CoD fans and gamers want and the sales are evidence of that. Stop blaming IW and start blaming other developers for lack of originality and resolve to follow their vision. Though as a PC gamer, I'd enjoy improved graphics and more gameplay variety.

More like, blame the gamers who keep feeding their money to EA and Activision. Also, as a PC gamer you don't care about mod support? That's a shame. Most PC gamers aren't any different than console gamers except for one thing: they care more about graphics.

Where did I say "I don't care about mod support"? Mod support is great but IW has not been implementing it and I don't expect them to suddenly add it.

You didn't say it, but I found it odd that you didn't mention it (and that PC gamers seem mostly indifferent to it these days). It's one of the biggest differences that separates PC gaming from console gaming, and adds to how CoD games are bad PC games.
