Simple, Panem et Circenses or Bread and Circuses. Keep the people busy with entertainment, food and toys and the government are left to do whatever they want.

People are too preoccupied with themselves and their own well being to be concerned with such things as "rights". It's just like buying a child a new toy, while they're busy playing you go off conducting your daily business.

the governments are pushing harder and people are almost at breaking point. the hardest part will be throwing away your 'things' in order to get your freedom back, many wont.

From the things i've seen, it wouldn't surprise me if there was a civil war at some point. And i'm not just talking about here in england.

I have my theories on what the real issue is, and in Europe i'd wager it's the EU, nevermind it's failed euro and corrupt bankers.

part of the problem is that a lot of people have it fing sweet.. too sweet and our society endorses this above any other pursuit. I drove through a village the other day after a wrong turn out of the city and at the place in question the houses were large & pristine (you know when everything is old yet has new roofs, windows, doors, gardens, extensions, vast conservatories in the large gardens, bricks scrubbed etc... the roads were nice, the trees were well kept everything had an almost timeless feel. The cars were all prestige marques and they usually had at least 3. Those people are going to suffer and its those people who will lobby and fight to keep the rest of society repressed in order to keep their perfect way of life.

people have to unite but in order to do so as i said you have to throw away your idea of 'things' what we have now.. or at least risk the chance of none to gain the most important things back. Again, many wont hence the slow nose dive into the sea bed we are seeing now globally where the system is bulging with the disillusioned, but the rich and powerful *read self entitled/greedy/mercenary types are lobbying for the authorities to squeeze even harder..

nailed it buddy.
with how isolated people are becoming its easier to miss the things going on around us.
sure we are more interconnected than ever before in recorded history BUT, people are not connected to what is going on outside in thier own community...only to whats going on in africa, or aghanistan, etc.
they miss that people are stealing stuff off thier lawn because they are too busy watching it happen to someone else.

This is a massive violation of rights. Google have taken a pretty defensive stance for their "customers'" privacy, hopefully they do something about this.

Not to be devil's advocate, but if the judge ordered it. I assume he would have also signed a warrant?

they miss that people are stealing stuff off thier lawn because they are too busy watching it happen to someone else.

and notice the increase in the market for home entertainment V out door pursuits? You rarely see anything on TV / papers marketed to the outdoors.
People are watching scare tactic media news stories every single day and replaying them at work. They are becoming scared to go outside and socialize (its in the name if you think about it.. and authoritarianism doesn't like socialism) at the same time the government raises taxes on the very things that can bring people together to talk about these issues on common ground with their boundaries reduced (beer / cigarettes for example, with the local bar/pub's shutting down in their droves which is an intentional ploy to stop any form of revolution (it was noted in the mid to late 18th century England that politicians were afraid of such gatherings and clearly still are today)

As you say, we have become the topology of a governmental network. Hub and spoke. Work (car) and home (high fences in gated communities) only watching others through screens.

its part of a larger ideological systemic spread of using technology to 'guide' the masses that if you piece the bits of the picture together over the last 3 years with the stories only posted on here alone is terrifying in its execution.

Soon Google glasses to record any descent ambiguously, google cars to drive you to work 'safely'. In a funny way it reminds me a bit of demolition man. Ok this stuff may seem off the wall, but if we take the two pieces and put them together: FBI no warrant & Google / Microsofts extremely high tech real time mobile and video audio communications you can remove the corporation's moral firewall and place the agents directly at the client end.

Today.
