Is this system OK? About to buy

Hi everyone,

Just wanted the green light and your opinion on the parts for my custom build. Is everything compatible and in order? Will be purchasing in a few hours.

The rig will not only be for games, but also for lots of heavy video and photo editing. I do plan on overclocking the CPU as much as possible. (Apparently 4,7Ghz is the limit even with the h100i)

Corsair AX760i 760w (Is that enough power for the system?)

Intel i7 4770k

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 OC, Windforce 3X, 2048 MB DDR5

Asus Z87-A motherboard (Is this motherboard a good option for overclocking? I don't want to neglect that)

Corsair Vengeance CL10 PC3-12800 RAM 16GB (1600MHz, 2x 8GB)

Corsair C70 Case

Corsair H100i Water cooling

Samsung 840 Series Basic SSD 240GB

Western Digital WD10EZEX Blue 1TB

I also wanted to buy a 120hz 3D screen but couldn't find anything under 300 euros (~360 dollars)..:-\

If anyone has a suggestion that would be cool...

Thanks for your time,

-Rich

p.s.

I tried assembling the PC on pcpartpicker.com but couldn't choose the Corsair AX760i as my PSU. Does that mean it's incompatible? Couldn't figure that out.

I'd say it looks good for the most part. Only thing I'd change is the memory. Grab something that is 1600Mhz with a Cas Latency of 9 or lower.

The motherboard you picked ought to be sufficient for some OCing with the 8 phase power deliver, although for max OC potential (and if its within your budget) you might grab somethign with a better VRM setup such as the Asus Z87 Pro or ASrock Z87 Extreme6.

More than enough, actually extra enough.
Memory ram with CL8 or CL7, better...

Thanks for your replies.

So even a 650 power supply would be ok?

As for RAM I can't find any 2 x 8 GB kits that have a clock latency of 7 or 8... only 9 and 10. :\

I'd go 750w if you think it's possible that you will ever go sli. Better to have more lower than you need now than to have to pick up another psu later on when you want to get another graphics card.

Memory wise CL9 should be fine at 1600mhz. I wouldn't go any higher than that but if you can't find 7 or 8 the 9 will be more than sufficient. If you can though you might look for something CL9 that's 1866-2133mhz.

Got it!

Seems good right?

I was wondering if higher frequencies help to overclock the CPU even more?

Idk about Haswell but with SB and IB OCing is done pretty much exclusively with multiplier so memory speed shouldn't affect it. Dont know enough about the new ones to know its the same or if it is practical to OC with the base clock. That memory kit looks good though. You may even be able to get it to do 1600mhz at cl8 which generally yields better performance (although at that point we are talking 1-2% difference at most).

Cheers for the answer. Ok well I guess I'll just stick with that ram and hope for the best.

Now I just have to figure out whether it's worth actually buying a 120hz 3D screen...
