[TPU] ASUS unveil 39inch 4K VA monitor - Page 3

Now this sounds good. I love my current AMVA panel, enough to keep me from going for 2560 IPS. So 3840 VA sounds pretty much what I've been waiting for. Remains to be seen how long I'll have to wait before I can actually afford one...

VA panels have better contrast ratios than IPS but tend to have slower response times. Though their response times have improved to the point where 120Hz is possible.

The Sharp IGZO monitor is $5000 and this could be cheaper according to the article.

Yeah Black Ops and Source games maybe. Even SLI Titan would choke on games like Crysis 3 / Tomb Raider / Witcher 2 in 4K maxed out, and those games are getting old. The new games that stem from 'next gen' consoles will require far more GPU power , then run those games at 4K and SLI Titan will really struggle..

We're looking at a few years before mainstream GPU's that most normal people buy (Not multiple $1000 dollar ones) are ok for 4K, but then the current cost of 4K screens dictate that only people with to much money would buy them anyway, in that sense they may aswell grab 3 Titan's or two 7990's which would probably do the job ok lol.

The rest of us will have to wait until 4K screens and 4K GPU's are more affordable..

Either that or hope the Koreans start knocking out 4K screens.. 4K Shimian anyone?

Crysis 3 and Tomb Raider are old? That's news to me.

Yes whether you have to set it as a mst double stream depends on Asus's driver board.
