Thermal armor is a gimmick functionally and it's only value is aesthetics (I don't like the look, but to each their own). Hero is essentially a striped down Extreme. It still retains many of the OC attributes of the extreme and is the ideal choice if you are not using extreme cooling.

Thats fine, 4.2ghz is not an aggressive overclock at all. Both boards will work fine so go with the one you prefer.

Get the Maximus VI Formula. It will have a Thermal Armor theme just like the Sabertooth.

Sorry for bumping into the thread.
But does the Haswell IHS, will have the same problems as the Ivy Bridge had?
Because one of my friends had one of these Ivy "hot" examples....he was getting to 90 degrees Celsius at 4,0 GHZ.......

or is the problem fixed with Haswell?
Even worse with Haswell, unfortunately.
Yeah unfortunately the Haswell chip does run hotter as the clocks get turned up, but the power usage is lower than Ivybridge. If you got some top tier cooling going on, your overclocking should be fine.

Also, a review of the Maximus VI Hero Intel Z87 is out from LegitReviews, http://www.legitreviews.com/article/2200/20/ - Sums up that the Hero is a great "Value" ROG motherboard and preforms extremely well. Price point is $220 for this board, while the Sabertooth is closer to $280. If I can snag the Hero in a bundle deal for around $200, I would definitely do it. Just my 2 cents.

The Sabertooth is also covered by a 5 year warranty compared to 3 years provided for the Maximus Hero. I chose the sabertooth this time.
