I am a little skeptic that it is real...just too good to be true really and I think he would be moving on this much faster than this if he really had something. To me it screams of "looking for investors to swindle"

If it is real...I am not thinking much will change. Obviously he is only concerned about one thing...money. If the process isn't sold cheaply it will not matter. No one will use it. That is part of the reason why a lot of renewable energy sources are not better utilized. A cheap coal plant is just more cost effective.

Yeah, but from what i understand from this one little tube of this eCAT produces about as much energy as a whole caboose of coal. So it might be cheaper especially if its fuel source is powered nickel.

Seems too good to be true, I will also remain skeptical for a bit.. but with my fingers crossed!

Which is kind of why I am skeptical. That is just amazing if it were true and even if he got totally screwed over on the patents...he'd be first to market with it and at the very least would come out a comfortable billionaire. So I cannot believe that he hasn't moved on this over money. What other reason would he have other than the whole thing is a farce? His idea that some one would kill him to prevent it? If he started it going it would be too late...though I guess it could be done out of revenge, but after a few hours on the market he'd be able to afford his own personal army of body guards.

This reminds me of that heat resistant plastic that supposedly will take insane temperatures that some guy made in his kitchen...but yet they don't want to let other people test it and they won't sell it.

Why even tell the world about it if you are not going to let any one purchase it or even let it be properly demonstrated? Hmmm to get people to invest in your "research" just so you can tell them that the research has hit a snag and can't continue maybe?

It sounds to me like he doesn't want an oil company to patent it then block anyone trying to sell it. I mean isn't that is whats going on with electric cars?

Edit: I'm pretty sure it could probably be weaponized as well. Also think of all of the jobs it could destroy. I could see a government being against it because of all of the energy jobs it would destroy. Would destroy trucking jobs of oil. Just to name one.

Well, the truckers would be fine since cars aren't going to run on this...unless it is electric and electric cars are hitting resistance from more than just the oil companies. Plus, believe it or not they are continuing the research. I am not defending them...I think they are ticks sucking the blood out of the world economy, but what is going on is that they know oil will either start to run out or hit a price point when consumers will not want pay any more. Then what will happen to their companies? With the patents and company take overs they've been doing they will be able to come out with electric cars that will likely be better than what we would have had. Though you can bet we will be paying more for them too and the electricity to charge them. So I am not expecting to gain much as a consumer.

However, there are large regions of the world where coal mining IS the life blood of the local economy. Those places might be hurting.

Though areas that mine nickle would probably get rich fast.

I doubt they would get rich fast as it takes 1 Gram of nickel for 23 Gw Hours.

Though it should be pointed that nickle is very close to iron on the periodic table...and iron is what kills stars. Once the core of star does fusion reactions up to iron the reaction gets out of balance and it goes super nova...well that it most commonly believed theory anyway.

But here we are doing fusion in a small tube with nickle that actually has a greater atomic mass than iron when even a massive star can't do it with iron? I hope I am missing some property about nickle fusing with hydrogen. I know we use nickle and hydrogen batteries all the time. So you'd think that chemical and nuclear reactions would be well researched. However, I am no expert on it...I just took a few chemistry classes in college. Any one in the thread that is an actual chemist or a "radical engineer"?

I think I am even more skeptic now...and was actually getting a spark of hope that I might see cold fusion in my life time.
