[HEXUS] Corsair upgrades Carbide Series with low-noise 330R

Building on the platform first established by the Carbide 300R released last year, the new chassis puts considerably more focus on low-noise operation than its forebear. It also adds support for larger radiators and takes a few more design cues from the dearer Obsidian line.

A Silent version of the 300R, one of two new cases revealed by corsair at Computex!

A news article about the other case, the 540, can be found here:

It looks and feels cheap. I had a 300R and I was very disappointed with its build quality...

What did you expect from a < $100 case? Think about how much $100 is really worth and how much it cost to build and ship a case.

My 400r cost $100 and it's build quality is exceptional.

Anyways, I hope we can get some close up pics on this case soon. I'm looking to go for a quiet build next time around.

You can't expect too much. It's basically a $50-60 case , not a $100+ one.
(my bulleted review here on OCN http://www.overclock.net/products/corsair-carbide-series-300r-black-computer-case/reviews/5784)

For the $70ish pricepoint they're asking the only other real competitor is the Cooler Master 692 Advanced. The Antec 300 II is vastly overrated. The Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 retails for $100+ USD normally and the NZXT Source cases are more budget cases than the 300R was and the NZXT Tempest 410 is pricey for what it offers.

I wonder if this will hit $20 cheaper pricepoint in a month like the 350D.

As for 330R I'm pleasantly surprised at the removable front air filter. Annoyed at a plastic lid for top fans though, they should've had an air chimney like the Nanoxia Deep Silence 1 but I think that was a cost & tooling issue.

The main problem with the 300R with respect to H100 or H100i on top is you need slim fans to not have issues , or drill offset holes. They probably just changed the holes on the top.

also, isn't Obsidian the low noise line?

No, Obsidian MUST have aluminum to qualify as their Obsidian line, and is NOT focused on being quite as a whole line.

Yep, George says so during the video on the Hexus page.

Looks to be a combination of the 300R and the 550D, with more space at the top for AIO water coolers.
$89 makes it the same price as the non windowed version of the 300R.

Looks really sleek, I'm liking everything Corsair is coming up with lately!
even though I just bought a Fractal Case...Where is Corsair's iTX case?

Not bad at all for the price. I like how Corsair is going after almost every price point.
I find it odd that they spend time discussing what they've done to mitigate noise from the front intake fans, but make zero effort to do anything for the rear exhaust. It's like they forget it exists. Not that any of it makes a difference, since "silent" cases have almost nothing to do with the case design and everything to do with the fans themselves, but I'm surprised they don't even make any effort at all to innovate rear exhaust mount design. Nothing against Corsair, who actually makes pretty nice stuff.
