I don't think my 2600k has past 70c and I've had it at 5ghz for a few days before too lol....a good watercooling loop makes one hell of a difference lol.

Air cooling is a lot more relevant than Sandy temps when discussing Haswell wink.gif

lol would love that but with a 4770k and the temps I am not sure if I can get that. Also is this a good temp gauge to get ambient temp, I am looking to put in temp sensors etc in my loop, and wanted to start better info.

http://www.harborfreight.com/non-contact-pocket-thermometer-93983.html It reads with a Accuracy within 2% at ambient temperature. Is that bad?

On regular loads you'll be in the 60-70s, only hardcore synthetic tests can get the proc really that hot on the extreme end.

4.5 should be safe at that if you can get Auto on Vcore. Also hoping that new IVR will make clocks more stable to eliminate unnecessary voltage just to grab voltage peaks = cooler at light loads

My main problem I was reading some where and trying to find it again to link it, but Asus tested OC a bunch of 4770k and came up with like 70% can get to 4.5, 20$% can get to 4.6 and like 10% can get to 4.7, or something like that.

So Glad I bought a 3770K instead of waiting on Hascrap. Sure its ~10 percent faster, but that matters for not if you cant get 4.5GHz without burning your house down. lol

I am really waiting to see real temp from people on here, for both doing normal things like surfing and playing games and testing. I have until Friday to decide what I am going to do. I know I am going to be on this system for about a year to a year and a half, then I am going to build a huge all out build, a mega build. So I just really need something to be able to play games at max and to watch my netflix etc and listen to music, and use voice chats. And Sometimes I have a Game, voice chat and music going, and looking up and watching youtube on some boss or something while tab out of game.

So I was thinking about just going a head and returning this and getting a 3570k and GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H and OC to around 4.5-4.7, along with the Corsiar 240 SSD Force and the 780 I am getting already, figure on WC it will be a great little computer for a year or 2.

BUt I am holding off to see what happens the next few day to see temps etc.

My 4770k is running around ~10degree cooler (55) than my i5 2500k (65-70) @ 4.5GHz each. But I think having the z87 sabertooth with the mobo fans and new thermal paste (arctic silver 5) plays a good roll. btw voltage on haswell is 1.15V, chip from malaysia.

Cooling set up:

Hyper 212+
Arctic Silver 5
