At stock they trade blows, but if you plan to OC the 7870XT will beat out the 660ti.

in my country 7870 xt is 40 euro cheaper than the 660 ti so the best is to go with the 7870 xt right?

Yeah. I'd probably get the 7870xt over the 660ti even if they were the same price thumb.gif

And costs well over $100 more than a GTX 660 Ti. I wouldn't get a 670. Either a 660 ti or 680. The 670 is to similar to the 660 ti and what little is different isn't worth that extra $100. I just bought an Asus GTX 660 Ti TOP for $215, while the 670 will be well over $300-350. There isn't much of a gain in performance. There is a gain, but not $100 worth of gain. The 7970 will run you $300-400 as well. Not only is that not cheaper than a 670, it is not cheaper than a 680 either. ATI does have a better performance/cost ratio, but buying something made by Nvidia is about buying the quality product.

Haha yes because amd doesn't provide quality products....?

7970 is the best bang for your buck in high end. Also, a 670 is significantly faster than a 660ti. Eg: my max OC on my 670 FTW was faster than my buddy's max OC on his superclocked 680. Trust me, 670 is a descent bit faster than a 660ti.

I am somewhat of a green fanboy so I nearly always buy Nvidia. However, the best bang for your buck right now is AMD 7000 series unless you want to spend enough to get a 770. 7970 whoops 670s ass when OCed, let alone the 660ti. If that's your budget, go for the AMD card. Even a 7950 would beat a 670.

I agree with the others....get a bigger upgrade...you could always wait for Maxwell to show up....no idea when that's supposed to come out, but those will dominate....

otherwise I'd say if you're spending money, you might as well get a good bump

game-ability = benchmarks

lol think about it.. feeling how fast you drive = influenced by every single km / mile per hour
what seems to be the overall speed then. what i´ve meant is that you cannot compare
theese twi cards unless you deactivate dx11 and let it work in the same dx mode like
the other card..

you cannot compare a cart to a car, no offense (;

I totally agree @ amd. They are a bigger bang for your buck, but I have not had any good experiences with ATI products. They have always left me with regret. @ the 670, the bandwidth does make it faster than the 660 ti, but look at the specs, look at the benchs. It is not $100 faster.

No sir, that is not necessarily true. For more that one reason. 1 - you have people who run unstable setting on benches just to get the numbers. That is not gamablility. And the main reason is from experience. The #s on a benchmark is a good guide when it comes to picking out a videocard, but I would not rely on that alone. Benchmark numbers tell you allot, but it is not a 100% accurate depiction of how that card will handle in game. I have assembled hundreds of custom computers for either resell purposes, friends, family, or clients, oh yeah, and for myself. I have so many videocards with super low scores suprise the crap out of me, and so many with super hi scores handle like total crap. Reviews! If you are going to buuy a card, you can get an idea from a bench, but look at reviews before you make a decision. I know in theory that because this card has higher memory bandwidth HWcompare.com says it is 68% faster, but that don't mean crap when it comes to putting a nice picture on your monitor. It could go either way. Maybe it will be faster, or maybe it will not. It also depends allot on the rest of your system and what monitor setup you are using.

Whether you are talking benchmarks, or as you call it "playability," there are certain cards you just can't compare (8800gtx and 660ti!)

Generally benchmarks, especially game benches, are a very good indicator of real world performance.

And still 8800gtx and 660ti. Pffffffft! Haha they aren't even close no matter how you measure it. Unless you are just counting whether or not you have a video card. But then you may as well get a GT210 or something tongue.gif
