Something about it only being an extension or other i forget why. Its specified that you need to use the middle one on the support tab of the website where you download the drivers but not in the manual you get with the product. Something going wrong over at Bitfenix thats for sure.

Thats what I initially thought, but I read through the 1 page manual that came with the controller and it didnt say anything about it. I didnt see it on the website though, I would of thought they would make it a little bit more clear, and state it in the extremely detailed 1 page manual it came with.

Haha yeah if they had it would have saved me 6 hours of unplugging, re-seating, re-booting and googling.

Anyway glad I could help, enjoy.

Just picked one of these up. Looks good but I cant tell how to program it so I just left it auto and it brings the fans down to like 600rpm. All but channel 5 which is hooked up to my Ram fan and it has to be all on or all off works just fine. The thing revs up at startup and slowly lowers fan speeds. With out the ram fan running its almost silent other than fan buzzing on a fan or two I have. I don't like how its a open box style controller as I like my units to be completely encased but the price was right thumb.gif

Ya .... I have small kids who like to turn knobs so this was best I thought lol

11 fans completely controlled, 15 fans total biggrin.gif

The controller looks good on the inside of the case, ill be doing that soon to make room for a WC res/pump but into one of the spare hard drive bays, currently I have 7 case fans all controlled.

For the fan thats all on or off, it probably doesnt have a rpm wire so the fan controller cant read its rpms so it can only give it full or no power.

I always have mine in manual mode my auto mode seems to run everything at full power I havent messsed with auto too much, but im sure if i lowered the temps for each channel it would slow the fans down. But if you want to try messing with it another way you can use phoebetria, its a program that lets you control it through your computer you can set rpms/temps on the graph and such.

Does look good inside the case though!

ya know what.... it is in manual mode, my bad blushsmiley.gif . I figured the unit voltage regulated the fan speed on non pwm fans (rpm readings irrelevant) for fan speed. Also, one of the two 120mm fans in the top front bay (farther behind the fan controller units-may be visible in the shots) will spin full blast and then slow to a stop then full speed again over and over. This fan ramping up and down didn't behave this way at first but I was button slapping the control panel of the Recon unit (instructions suck) and seem to have made a setting. Manual mode allows me to turn that fan off completely but any attempt at increasing the fan speed causes the fan to spin up and down. Auto Mode does not control the Ram fan on Channel 5 under 1800 rmp .... that's what it was, now I remember thumb.gif

Anyway to default the unit back to stock settings?

Also I really like the look of the units' displays peering back into the case, like a shadowbox with pretty indirect lighting. I get lots of compliments from people who walk past the pc and stop for a second look, ive not seen this done a lot and its a interesting twist on case configuration.

Do you have multiple fans hooked up to that channel? only thing I can think of is possibly multilple rpm readings is messing it up, or the voltage is too high for the channel if you have 2 powerful fans overloading it cant keep it powered. If you do have 2 fans hooked up to the channel try cutting one of the rpm wires see if that helps.

As for resetting the unit to stock settings I have no idea, The instructions definitely sucked! lol I think i threw them out because they were useless I believe they just said what each button did and thats about it.

I would do that same thing if I had a side panel on my computer unfortunately I dont, I am hoping to get one made for me soon since I dont have any tools where I live trying to find someone that will do it for me.

Curious as to what ram fan that is?
