Gtx 560 ti Overheat... - Page 2

Welcome to OCN John111

80C is too hot for a gpu to be idling at, but AB shows that your card stays at 732mhz, indicating it is still not downclocking, it should be at 405mhz if it was downclocking.

have you tried changing the power settings under nvidia control panel to allow it to downclock?

Also a picture of the inside of your case would be good, how hot is your cpu?

Welcome to OCN!

Well my old gtx 560 ti from evga had heat issues, that card would have gone in the 95c and above range. It's been running like that (95-100 C) for 2 years or so. Do I have to say it is dead by now?

Try setting yourself a new fan profile.

Lol I take it you took steps to actually try lower the heat, as apposed to just letting it die slowly for 2 years?

gosh thats way too hot. my GTX670 has never seen temps above 70C.... Probably a huge issue with dust. Definitely needs some new paste! Get some MX2 and try that. Also, you might want to consider cracking off the IHS.

if you're running 2 monitors your card won't downclock fully. It might lower voltage or clocks a tad but it won't go down all the way, hence your high idle temp.

New paste, shovel application by OEM = bad (you wouldn't want to see the putty my tfIIIs got!), stick some AS5 on it or whatever your poison is (arctic silver 5, mx-3, pick another paste)

edit: and don't put it on with a spoon rolleyes.gif pea size is more than enough (garden pea not one of them big ones! christ a rice size dod will work)
