It's borderline retarded to move from 1155 to 1150 atm (no offense to you op) but there is really nothing there from a performance stand point. I don't know what else Haswell brings besides some lower power targets. Does it improve on memory controllers like Ivy did? One thing worth noting is that 1150 boards have **** loads of usb 3.0's. But thats clearly not a reason to dump 500$ into a new setup.

the thing is my mobo already got some quirk to it (mentioned in the previous page) and instead of getting another z77 mobo i was thinking i might as well get z87 and move up to haswell....

Just get another Z77 board, if you can deal with your mobo for a bit you might catch a good sale on another.
If you can't wait, it'd still be more cost effective to just replace the board instead of practically side-grading to Haswell.

Again, if you want to just because you want to - that's one thing, but otherwise it's not worth it.

Why not just RMA it? You're probably covered. Worth checking out because I woudn't spend XXX$ on a new setup when yours is more then capable of.

Haswell does have a better memory controller, & for people who use AVX the new AVX2 instruction set should be faster.
I wouldn't say borderline retarded (since I have 1155 & am going 1150 as well tongue.gif ), but definitely not a recommended upgrade for most who already have 1155 rigs.

idk if i'm still covered and at this point ( if i was still covered it would be the last few weeks of warranty) i think the retailer will attempt at "fixing" it and lots of headache, and i wouldn't trust a messed with component in my system

Well check. Seems like you're just assuming that they wont so you can justify spending money on a new setup. Not to sound like your Mom but I really, really cant see a reason to spend the money. Unless both your CPU and Mobo crapped out, then ok.

That's why I said power stand point. Im sure there are some cool features but for most people, they're looking for clock to clock performance. And Haswell AFAIK doesn't justify and upgrade from 1155.

It's also dumb to upgrade from Sandy to Ivy, for the same level of chip. If you already have, the upgrade isn't that great. Probably the same from Ivy to Haswell. Even Sandy to Haswell wouldn't be worth it... To me at least. I'm going to wait until a nice hexa or octo core chip comes out at about that price range.
