Im looking for a good x79 mobo that will give me enough space so my 7970's can breath and ad a sound card. I had to pull my other sounds card out to put in my 2nd 7970, and i hate how close they are together.

Wouldnt it be better for me to go x79? Then 2011 chip will last longer, plus wont they come out with a 2nd gen 2011 chip? I mean I could go z77 but 1155 will be dead soon, and x79 has more options like pci-e 3.0

I love my 960, but i;m buying a nouse and if i dont upgrade now it might be 2 yrs or so before i can agian!!

you can always go with haswell and z87. no reason to get ivy bridge and z77 at this point unless you are looking for something used on the cheap. if you will actually use all the threads then by all means go x79 and 3930k, but if you are just looking for spacing there are lots of good z87 boards available.

Well I game, and surf, and maybe a movie

So a cheap hasewell and nice mobo, then upgrade cpu later?, I would need new ram too? right?

Will there be a 2n gen 2011 chip?

for what you have listed, the 4670k would work just fine.

current word is that IVB-E will be out later this year on the 2011 socket probably with an x79 refresh, but you will end up paying quite a bit more for it.

its a pricy board due to all the features, but the one im looking at that would suit you well is the new z87 sniper 5.

or some of the cheaper offerings from asus would work as well.
