You May have a Concave IHS or Heatsink base...This means the Heatsink doesnt make full contact with the CPU...This could be a cause.

You call 50load is high, mine goes (amd a64 3800+) 55C on load with stock!

I wouldn't be concerned about the weight of your HSF. If it is attached properly, weight won't be a factor. Just be careful and use common sense, that's the best advice I can give. I've read a lot of success stories on removing the IHS. I only read a couple of unsuccessful's.

Ther IHS and HS are lapped, I have a link to them in my sig. I'm going to reseat it this weekend anyway, so i'll check both of them against a straight edge and see if any light is coming through when they are butted up against each other. If the are both flat no light at all should be getting through.
