How's my OC? Thoughts, opinions wanted

I've got 32gb (8 dimms) of Corsair LP White (1.35V, 1600MHz @ 9-9-9-24-2T) memory on x79.
I'm currently running it at 1713MHz, 8-9-8-18-1T @ 1.55V.
Is this a reasonable overclock? Would you suggest changing any of my timigs, V, etc? I've never ocd memory before and while what I've done seems pretty swish to me I have no idea :-P

While I suppose that is a decent OC, I would not be inclined to use it. I assume that you had to change your base clock on the CPU to attain that speed. I would look at going back to the stock base clock and try 1866 with 9-9-9-24-1T at even 1.65v

Yeah the ram speed is set by the bclk I've used for my most stable cpu oc.
What is the reasoning on faster speed vs tighter timings? Also when I went to 1.65 over 1.55V I couldn't tighten timings any more.
imI'm coming from the perspective of faster speed is not necessarily going to make any difference, even in benches, on x79 platform

Nothing is wrong with tighter timings or anything like that. It has just been a personal observation of mine that what I like to call standard settings generally give you better stability. By standard settings, I mean settings that manufacturers will use. Ex: 1600 9-9-9-24 1.5v , 1866 9-9-9-24 1.5v, 2133mhz 9-11-10 1.6v, and so on.

Call it overclocking superstition, but I just don't like the thought of higher base clocks on chips after the release of SB chips.

Ah yeah I can understand that, ill loosen the timings and see if I can hit 1866 tonight. I've got my bclk on 128.5 to get that ram speed, but I've found my system has no problem going about 4mhz either side of default 100 bclk (or 125 strap) and I like the higher qpi I get with a hight bclk :-P ill put up some screenies of my bios/Asus probe etc tonight

Also, what might be the problem with running a higher bclk? Is it just the possibilty of destabilising pci-e and stuff cos its faster? Would it come anywhere near killing a video card or anything? I've had about +3mhz on bclk for almost 6 months now and stuff seems ok
