[TweakTown] mAtx BitFenix 2.0 - Page 4

A bunch of SFF builders find the Prodigy to be an inefficient use of space for a case, so the more cramped arrangement that allows a mATX mobo in the Prodigy M can be a welcome improvement. Can anyone make out the dimensions of the case though? If this is within ~2L of the Prodigy's size, then the size is decent for SFF enthusiasts. Personally I'm not a big fan of cases that turn the mobo upside down (purely due to aesthetic reasons), but having a 230mm LED fan on the bottom would make for a cool outside bottom glow for the entire case.

I'm a huge fan of the Phenom M, which is basically an mATX Prodigy without the frivolous handles and useless ODD bay.

Who knows why Bitfenix thought that people enjoy playing catch with their SFFs and that full-height ODDs could be relevant in the context of a compact build, but I'm glad that they have made something a bit more reasonable. Now, do m-ITX and do it right. biggrin.gif

Not a big fan of the inverted motherboard mounting either. Can it at least fit SLI/Crossfire like some other mATX cases? (looks like it can)

Dang looks great! I love my Bitfenix smile.gif Great cases without the bulky 1980's craptastic cheese look most people buy as far as cases go (no offense to most people - you just have no taste tongue.gif )

Lets clear the air. You could place two HDD's on the bottom, or two 120 fans, or 200/230mm fans. 1 HDD on the back of the motherboard, 1 ssd, tons of cable management, and 2 SSD on the side panel.

Designs are subject to change, as it's a prototype.

And yes, tweaktown is a reliable source for hardware news, and yes, the Prodigy M is real. tongue.gif

I like the prototype so far.. smile.gif

agreed. I really like the Prodigy and would give an mATX version serious consideration (I especially like the colors, ha). mini-itx still has some limitations concerning airflow setup when trying to build an acoustic-oriented build.

Here are some better pictures of their cases.
While I am in love with the m-ATX prodigy, the "inverted" motherboard layout totally ruins it for me.
Hopefully is only a prototype.

The "Phenom" though gets my vote for innovation. It looks really clean. smile.gif

I love the Prodigy and the small footprint it possesses. I was hoping that the Prodigy M would be basically the exact same case, just allowing for a mAtx motherboard and thus more RAM + CFX/SLI. Honestly, just a simple minor tweak or widening of the case to allow that would have been perfect. I hope that this prototype goes back into design after this because the inverted motherboard and the fact that it appears everything was just jammed in there wherever it would fit really ruins it for me. sadsmiley.gif

The Phenom M and Colossus M both look nice but we have no idea of the interior yet so it's hard to assess those at the moment.

I think they did it right. Also the Prodigy isn't exactly a reference in compactness, look at the Silverstone SG05 or the SG09/SG10 for µATX.
