ASUS Maximus VI Extreme

Thread Starter
Just picked up a 4770K today from Microcenter.

I plan on getting a ASUS Maximus VI Extreme because I wish to OC my CPU to 4.5Ghz with a custom water loop and the color scheme works for my rig.

I will use:
2 x EVGA GTX 780 SC (possible 3rd card in the future)
16Gb of fast RAM (faster than 1600mhz)

Any ideas when this mobo will be released? I asked the guy at microcenter and he proceeded to tell me that it was a stupid decision and I should get the Sabertooth instead. Is the Extreme too much for my setup? What are other MOBOs that would work with a red scheme and able to OC the CPU to 4.5Ghz.

Thanks smile.gif

Extreme is built for Extreme overclockers and you pay a premium for items you would most likely never take advantage of. If you like the color scheme and the basic features look at the other ROG series like the Hero or Formula. Asus plans to unleash the full line up tomorrow at computex.

I ordered my 4770k. Now I am waiting to see the formula before I make my mobo decision.

Unless you'll definitely get 3rd GPU, it's overkill.

MSI GD65 and Gigabyte UD4H are red.
