NEW i5 3570k Testing 4.4GHz overclock on Stock cooler

Thread Starter
Just to Begin, i will be getting better cooling i just felt like testing how far i could push my processor on the stock cooler, i am stopping all tests if my CPU reaches 90c

So i just brought a i5 3570k and a asrock z77 extreme 4 Mobo and i was reading up on overclocking threads when i read afew about "Golden Batches" of the ivy bridge processors and i figured i might as well test my cpu for the hell of it, i am currently running Prime95 Generic Blend Test With my CPU at 4.4GHz and a fixed Vcore of 1.15v, it has been running for 45 Minutes now and my max Temp has Been 88c and the average is 84c and my Vcore (Using CPU-z) Fluctuates Between 1.112v and 1.120v, My Real Question is, is this good concidering its Stable so far and on the stock cooler

P.S. i will be Upgrading my cooler to a Corsair H100i

You're not going to get anything out of a h100i if you don't delid.. so either don't buy it, or buy it and delid thumb.gif

Thanks for the reply but ive seen a h100i do wonders on a similar overclock without delid, im more interested in what ppl think of the overclock on the stock cooler

re-do the test and post a screen-shot.

what are your ambient temps?

Not true. Delid does help with temps, but a H100i will definitely help just fine without.

OP, there has been some that say the new batches of 3570K and 3770K OC like crazy without a delid. Sound like you got a good chip. We wont know if its golden until you hit 5GHz without a delid. biggrin.gif

My Ambient Temp is About 25c and the test is still Running as we speak ill, my max is now 89 after about 2 hours, i haven't done much overclocking in the past few years so if you have some pointers or other recommended soft id appreciate it (im not a complete noob just outdated)

why people here keeps on spreading false info like this? saying that you can't overclock without delidding. my 3570k is overclocked to 4.7ghz using a normal sized cooler, gemin ii s524.

My experience with Ivy was limited, but from what I remember dont set LLC to max, do one or two steps down from max, it helps a bit with temps, also use fixed vcore untill you find whats stable then switch to offset. Pretty much just set multi, vcore and LLC and thats about it at first.

Should i stop my test and see if i can push it to 4.5GHz (Which is, from what iv read sorta the break point without adding more voltage which i wont do without a new cooler)
