[GameInformer] Rapid Decline In Playtime For Halo 4 Steeper Than Halo Reach - Page 2

It's not dead yet, but after Halo 3, the franchise has been going downhill fast IMHO.

MS is doing their very best to milk it and run it into the ground. The series has enough momentum (and advertising money) to go on for the rest of the trilogy, but when you alienate your core fanbase, the "casual" players will only stick around for so long.

/facepalm

I'm trying hard not to be too sarky with this response.

Well done, Bungie had NOTHING to do with Halo 4, hence why I am saying Bungie will be sorely missed.

I found the maps to be a bit lacking in variety, and they were REALLY, REALLY slow on supporting the forge community. Overall they did a really lackluster job at filling the shoes Bungie gave them.

The game also has awful support for split-screen, the console can no longer handle it. You also have to make classes for your guest EVERY TIME you log them in, which is tedious and dull. I'm sure this killed the motivation of a lot of players(Call of Duty did this feature right). Halo has always been known for the solid split-screen experience but halo 4 just doesn't have it, me and my sister used to play halo 3 and reach all the time co-op but we hardly play 4.

Also, what the companies don't seem to realize and frequently shun is the hardcore, and competitive players. These people promote your brand and get others to play your game, they CARE for your game. Shunning these players away as second class citizens is a very short sighted mistake and fatal to the longevity of your game. Casual players on the other hand don't truly "care" about the franchise, they might come pouring in with untold numbers, but they'll leave just as fast.

343 could have handled this so much better, but they were much too slow at addressing the much needed issues. Such as map variety, map balance, split-screen features,

On-line is okay but, I really just don't like the system, at all. If they had retreated to more of a Halo 2 system w/ranking, that would've been great and definitely kept people playing. As is, there's really no reason to level because it's not based on skill.

Reach was different because you were ranked...Didn't always work but, when it did at least there was competition.

On average now, I enter a Halo 4 game, smack-down everyone else and continue to do so until it's quite bland...In Halo 2 / Reach, this situation never occurred.

I wouldn't call it a failure because of the story but, had they done a ranking system that actually ranked you, there would be far more people playing the game.

P.S. their line of best fit is actually about the same...So, I think the article title is a bit misrepresenting but, it is what it is.

Agree. H4 is a mixed bag for me, definitely wasn't as bad as reach was though, in my own opinion.

Multiplayer is good, just gets pretty bland fast. I played 4-5 matches the other day after not popping it in since January. But this is also coming from a guy who has become pretty unmotivated in most things; especially gaming.

I will say I did get what I wanted, it was better than Reach. That's honestly all I was asking.

I played the game for about 3 weeks after launch, beat it, played some Multiplayer, but could not get into the multiplayer really. Sounds weird, but it just did not have the Halo feel.
