[Build Log] Codename: RAMPAGE - Tri-SLI GTX 780 Gaming Monster

I will be reusing some parts from my current setup, but here is a breakdown of the parts list. Nothing too crazy - just a nice, solid performer.

  • NZXT SWITCH 810 White
  • Asus Rampage IV Formula
  • i7 3930k (4.3+GHz)
  • 3-way Galaxy GTX 780 SLI
  • 16GB G.Skill Ares 2133mhz
  • LEPA G1600 1600W PSU
  • Corsair M4 256GB SSD (plus some 1TB drives thrown in)
  • Corsair H100i water loop

That's the gist of the build currently. I'm waiting for parts to arrive, mainly the Lepa 1600W, the NZXT SWITCH 810 White, H100i, and the Rampage IV Formula board. I think it will end up performing nicely for me in the end and for quite awhile to come. I'm in the habit of cycling my cards every 1 to 2 generations. If the 8xx series ends up being a large enough jump, I may take the plunge yet again. I'll be sticking with socket 2011 for awhile though - I'm so impressed by it.

Here's a quick picture of what I'm currently running:

Did I mention that I have a LANbox PC that sports a 780 GTX as well? It pushes an Acer 23.6" 120hz monitor quite well for LANs and for my wife (trying to get her into gaming with me tongue.gif)

Took a thorough look at the NZXT SWITCH 810 White case and have decided to use that instead of the HAF X. I was never really sold on the HAF series even after owning the 932 Advanced. It's a nice case, but there are quite a few design shortcomings. The NZXT case looks to have thoroughly thought through it's design and has a nice large side window which I really wanted. Plenty of fan mount locations as well. Overall, I think it will fit my build better.

I'll post up some more pictures soon, perhaps this afternoon, but more parts rolled in: ASUS Rampage IV Forumla, the 4th GTX 780, H100i and some blue LED case lighting from logysis. The case should be in tomorrow. At that point, all I need is the PSU and a 4-way SLI bridge.

No, all you really need to do is lend me your fourth gtx780 since you have no real use of it biggrin.gif I promise to give it back when you upgrade to 1440/1600p or go triple monitor tongue.gif Also make yourself a favor, ans us ofc, and watercool your rig. Its unacceptable to run gtx780 tri-sli (since i ll get the 4th, remember?) and a 3930k on air thumb.gif Waiting for more pics thumb.gif

Water cooling is definitely a possibility for the future, but just not right now. I'm dumping enough money as-is into this thing haha. I've never done a watercooling setup either so it would definitely take some research. From what I can tell, the NZXT Switch 810 should afford me quite a few possibilities when it comes to that later on.

Are you going to get a custom BIOS? Cause as far as I was aware, Quad-SLI 780s weren't supported.

I'm holding out hope for nVidia to support it in a future patch release or for the community to throw me a bone and develop a bios that supports it thumb.gif
