No motherboard has the same caliber onboard audio. It mostly due to static noise though.

If you have spacing issues, just get a external DAC/receiver depending on your audio setup.

Join the super-power that is the G1. Sniper 5.

After careful deliberation I decided on this board.

Superior and customizable audio, Gigabyte quality, 16 phase power, beastly coolers, a PLX chip, and all other z87 goodies...all wrapped up in one package.

The guys over at Guru3d approve. As do the guys at HeadFi.org (I asked about this board vs a sound card).

Take a good look as that's a near professional audio circuitry, absolutely spot on and something that will get the taste buds flowing for audiophiles as you can even change out OPAMP....What a terrific audio offering, that's just brilliant stuff.

The maximus 5 formula isn't releasing for a while and dosent offer 4-way, but that board's audio looks more upgraded than the previous, it looks pretty cool thumb.gif

IMO that replaceable AMP on the Sniper 5 board is pretty decent as is GB's implementation of the Core3D and it has the proper hardware, in RMAA i score in the 150s in dB, but one must correctly disable software with RMAA and the software. Core3Di's software is really what helps it.

Also ALC1150 =ALC900 they just named it higher maybe for advertising sake, its still a realtek codec which works with the built in Intel HD audio in the PCH, Core3Di on the other hand has its own PCI-E 1x lane and so on. I think people think ALC1150 is like some brand new tech, its updated ALC898 with higher SNR and Dolby support like ALC898 compared to ALC889 or ALC892. I still do like how many companies have added onboard amps.

I change my boards around a lot, my last 24/7 system was a X79S-UP5 with ALC898 and i switched back to a Sniper 3(same creative CA0132/Core3Di, but different AMP and hardware implementation) and I could tell the difference when i was gaming for sure, especially when it came to making out where other players are in relation to me(i play a crap load of BFBC2, you can check my steam name under sin0822, its kind of embarrassing). With music i really couldn't tell the difference though.

ouch... lol:

Has asus actually confirmed that Maximus VI Formula will not be releasing for a while? I'm waiting on the board to start my build and that would really irk me if that was the case.

that is what i remember from their presentation files, I think they want to see how the Hero does in the market. IMO you can try asking on the ROG forum. I am going to check out their booth today at computex, I will ask them.
