DUAL LINK DVI not allowing to scale by Display, forcing scale by GPU. ONLY IN DUAL LINK

Hey guys,

I got a new BenQ 120hz and couldn't get it to tell me I was running anything but native even though other resolutions were being displayed. I returned it thinking it was defective.

I got the ASUS 144hz and it has the same issue. I realized that now in my Nvidia Control Panel under scaling options the dropdown does not allow me to select anything but GPU (no other options even show up). I used to be able to pick display/options a while ago before I got this monitor, I remember being able to.

I've tried to go down to a version of drivers and control panel from a long time ago and it didn't fix it. Might not be the right version. This is an issue because I need to run no-scaling and have the monitor scale for optimum input lag, however it just won't let me choose to have the monitor scale instead of GPU scale.

Will upload pics in a sec

When I install old drivers, and it unintalls my current driver to prepare for the install of the new (or older) driver, during that brief moment of default drivers the 1600x900 does get stretched full by my monitor, but as soon as a new driver is installed and the monitor re-flickers then im back to black bars on all 4 sides.

I cannot even get my system to remain with windows drivers, when i uninstall and restart it claims I have windows drivers but then without doing anything or any notifications, I recheck 5 minutes later and it says I have nvidia drivers but its being installed right away because the 1600x900 won't display on full which it does with no drivers as I explained above during uninstall/reinstall.

I've tried about 9 different nvidia drivers (with the included version of Nvidia Control Panel) and nothing fixes it. I'm about to try and use my old monitors with the higher hz ones disconnected and see what happens with those.

Is this a completely uncommon issue? I see people talking about it when I google but its all like 2010 and previous, nothing to do with anything recent versions of drivers.

Now I'm realizing, this is specific to both the monitors. But I think its still not a coincidence they both wont work. If I have a new monitor either the BenQ XL2420T or the Asus VG248E I cannot select scale by monitor.

However on my other 2 ASUS monitors, connected by DVI-I instead of DVI-D it will work and allow me on those monitors to select display but still will not allow me to select display (or give the option) on the other monitors.
