High RMA rate. People buy the board to stress the components. Stressed components fail. Not to mention the fact that many people who buy an enthusiast product don't know how to use it / set it up = Return.

Silly store rep.

If he is on commission, I feel bad for that guy. Either way I feel bad for him because he might have sales numbers to get.

OP, Get the board you want. Don't listen to sales people, ever. I used to be one of them.

I ran a Crosshair IV Formula for a few years and it was a fantastic board...not one single issue and overclocked my Phenom II X6 like mad. thumb.gif

I got a buddy with a Maximus V Gene as well and it's been great for him. Granted it's a small sample size, but these ROG boards are quite popular with the enthusiast crowd. If they were really that bad, you'd hear more about it. TBH, the sales guy is just talking BS or maybe he just hates Asus or something. Get the Rampage and enjoy it. biggrin.gif

THIS....
and I'm feeling feisty today so I would like first shot at the guy.

OP - next time test his skill set and fore back some questions, hell stop by here if you need help with some good ones...?
if you did the research and you know that's what you want then so be it.
aren't they both ASUS boards anyways...? rolleyes.gif

There are a plethora of tech review sites and enough testimonials to tell you the sales person is wrong.

Never trust a sales person, especially in electronics with the kind of tech turnover rates there are in the industry.

I am running this board with out any issues. This is a great board and I would not shy away from buying it just because he said he see more problems with these boards. One reason he might see more issue with this board is because it such a great board that more people buy them and the more people that buy them the larger chance for getting returnes, also these boards are used by power users who like to overclock witch could cause more issue with them as they are pushed to thier limits. Again though I put mine though it limits with no issues. Enjoy.

Don't like the on-board fan that doesn't turn off, though (unless they fixed this in a new firmware update).

Fan turns off from a setting in the bios. Always has since the board has been released.

But will it turn back on if it gets too hot???
