Won't turn on unless you turn it back on from the bios settings. Won't get hot.

He probably gets a bigger spiff for selling one of those other boards he recommended.

I talked to him again, and he said that the 2011 versions had fewer failures than the 1155 ones. Either way, I'm sticking with you guys. You're my new friends now! biggrin.gifwink.gif

R IV E is the best X79 board... dunno what that guy is talking about.

Is it worth the money? Not for if you're just gaming.

I plan to do mostly video editing. And some gaming, of course. smile.gif

He/the store must have a sales quota for the other boards. I remember my days in sales. Certain months there would be wild incentives for inferior products. So, the sales person was left with recommending the right product, but missing high commission, or pushing the crap product, screwing over the customer. I'll bet this sales guy will be pushing the extended warranty plan for $500 right after you decide, as well. Get the Asus, if that's what YOU want. It's their best mobo, IMHO.

Just picked up the board! And everything else too! They didn't have any GTX 770s in stock so I HAD to "settle" for the GTX 780... Oh well: we all have to make sacrifices...
The people at NZCT are just great: called them and they are sending me an adapter plate for tier water cooler so it will fit tier box (Kraken X60 on a white Switch 810), but they were all out of the white ones. No problem: they are sending me s black one for now and when the white ones are available next month, they are sending me one then. Both times no charge. Now there's s company that has customer service figured out.

I had a sales rep at a local microcenter tell me the same thing about the unreleased maximus vi board when I asks if and when they will get any. He said get the sabertooth instead because ROG boards are very buggy and come with a bunch of stuff I won't use. I literally laughed at him and walked away.

This is why I shop online, so I don't have to listen to these morons that call themselves "subject matter experts". Keep your opinion to your self. If I'm coming in to purchase a $400 mobo, I'm pretty sure I know what I want.... Lol

Lol I have a custom pc with gtx670 sli asus p9x79 deluxe 3930k custom water and x3 ssd. I brought the pc in with me as I didn't want to leave it in the car park for a couple hours and the sales person behind the counter looked over my pc and said I should update to a better pc. He pointed me to a 3570k and a gtx 560 with air cooling and said that this pc was the latest technology and it would run faster than my pc. When I started laughing he looked upset and couldn't work out what I thought was so funny. Got to love a clueless salesperson. It didn't even have a ssd drive.
