I do apologize I sent you you another customers quote and sent the other customer yours. Your unit did come in with burn damage like on the picture. At this point all I can do is offer you a discount price of $90.00 (shipping waived) for replacement. Please let me know how you would like to proceed. Thanks

No surprise to hearing this ASUS customer service story. Discount $90? WOW.. They should put a disclaimer on their warranty propram. Covered but you still need to pay.

Well it's better than nothing. My experience was that my mobo just stopped working and I sent it in to have it fixed. What I got was a refurbished mobo all nicked up and used.

My response, 6-10-2013:

Monica Villicana,

I would like to inquire as to why component failure of the motherboard is not covered under the warranty. The purpose of the warranty is to instill confidence in your consumer that the product will be covered for repair or replacement if failure is to occur. In this case, a component on the motherboard failed and cause the burning and melting to occur. This is clearly a failure of the motherboard. I purchase ASUS components faithfully, knowing that I am purchasing quality and reliable parts. I am having trouble understanding the purpose of paying for a replacement because a component on your product failed within the warranty term of three years.

Now I will avoid them. I ordered an Asrock z77 Extreme6 and it came in today. I am paranoid, so I recorded the un-boxing just to be safe. I have heard a lot of stories about bent CPU pins coming from the manufacturers this year. Everything was fine so I'm hoping Asrock will be loyal to their customers.

I haven't heard of any horror stories with ASRock. Been using their boards for at least 5 years now haven't had one die on me yet thumb.gif. I actually record videos when removing the cover from sockets to ensure I don't get grilled for bent pins coming from the manufacturer.

Take it to a small claims court. What's a few hundred dollars to a multi-billion dollar corporation?

Just make the amount paid for the board as the claim and enjoy the money lol. They won't show up, happened before.

That's just lol. They don't even know their own policies. However, they claim it was water damage (figure 33) which can be a problem to prove.

I think at this point you could claim water is wet and they could disagree just to try and sneak out of it
