None of this information is quite correct really. You wont notice any noise difference unless your 6970 has a heating problem as we speak. They wont run cooler either, because coolness all depends on how high he OCs and what level he keeps his fans on...same with the audio levels.
Twice as fast? Yes - i was NOT exaggerating , i went from CF 6970s -> 7970 and the Tahiti craps all over the old 6970s, even more so since 12.7.
Reference 6970s are INSANELY loud - a quiet 7970, say a Gigabyte Windforce is MUCH quieter. I've had a Gigabyte WF 7970Ghz and currently a Matrix 7970 - and they are quieter than the 6970s even when overclocked.
EDIT: Sorry - i meant a 7970 is about twice as fast as a single 6970, about par with CF 6970 in raw fps - but probably faster in perceived fps due to no microstutter.Edited by jerrolds - 6/4/13 at 8:15pm
