Damm thats gonna require some thought, i dont know if i wanna invest thst much maybe max $350? ......ive seen a couple peopke do the red mod, take a cpu closed loop cooler and use it to cool there gpu/ can i do something like that?....unless i get lucky and score some used equiment

I'm in the same boat. A quality WC setup is expensive! Look to the marketplace here. Generally the people on this site take very good care of their equipment and prices are very fair wink.gif

how much rad do you have?

My whole system runs off of 1 XSPC RX360 with 6 AP-14's in push pull.

"1 XSPC RX360" is one 360mm radiator made be XSPC (so its a top quality 360mm radiator). "6 AP-14s in push pull" means he is using 6 fans (model : ap-14) In a push/pull configuration on the radiator.

Lol, I've done builds with cross-fire unlocked 6950s (not overclocked), a massively overclocked 7950, and an overclocked (stock voltage) windforce 670. Performance for the three set-ups are about the same, with the 6950s very slightly ahead. So in that scenario, the overclocked 670 and 7950 are theoretically twice as fast as a single stock 6950/6970. But if you overclock the cross-fired 6950/6970s . . . Of the three scenarios, the cheapest and quietest (by far) is the $250 powercoler 7950 with an accelero cooler on it.

7970 Is a GREAT card don't get me wrong id love to have 1, but for the sake of this conversation all iam saying is this......If benchmarks depend on driver updates then its fair to assume if Amd does a update for 6970s specificly then you can expect them to get a boost in games as well but they don't do updates on those cards for some reason! On a furmark test I got 85 fps with my crossfired 6970s vs my friends 40 fps Matrix 7970 so according to this test that dosent use AMD driver updates the 7970 is about tied with the 6970 and maybe slightly ahead of 1 6970.In gaming tests of course the 7970 will come out ahead in a 1vs1 test!..... The 7970 has 3 gb,the 6970 has 2 gb but crossfired 6970s iam fairly confident will STOMP a single 7970, even at some games! I don't buy all the benchmark bs you see online,I like to check things for myself as you can see
Your Matrix is a great card and in all honesty iam JELLIOUS I don't have 1 but if you wanna talk tests then run a quick furmark test and post the results here for me would you? What would be even cooler to have 2 matrix cards! Baller! thumb.gif

Well, here's the advice I can give you with all the information summed up : If you are going to water cool, sell your cards and purchase a 7970.

Why : It will cost you $120 per water block to do it. Plus 120mm of rad per component. So $240 + 360mm of rad.

If you get a 7970, you will need one water block and 240mm of rad for your entire system. Plus you can add another 7970 later when you need to upgrade.

($400 - $240) + $120 = $280 + 240mm of rad. Plus much more expandability.

...Plus no need to deal with games that scale bad or don't scale at all. And no compatibility issues...

Just eat the ~$20 and upgrade.

OR get used stuff from the marketplace here (or ebay) and come out saving money!
