Okay, so I got a 124 BSOD after about 12 hours. The setting that I changed which made the overclock seemingly more stable was "CPU Input Voltage".

I'm using the ASUS Gryphon motherboard so it might be named differently on yours. Stock voltage for that particular setting is 1.712. I increased that to 1.95 which did help the stability.

The description for CPU Input Voltage reads: "Input Voltage for the processor by the external Voltage Regulator".

Hope that Helps.

PS: I disabled the SVID Support as well which is a setting that enables/disables the processor's ability to communicate with the external voltage regulator.

1.95V is well above the maximum specs for the base voltage. 1.75 is where it should be, 1.86 is the max:

Not anymore, because 1.65V did degrade my chip to where I've got a new one waiting to replace it next week after I get my replacement watercooling tubing.

I learned my lesson, stick to the Intel max specs.

Intel Max specs are worthless. RAM voltage can easily be higher than 1.5V without damage, and 1.52V was way too high as a maximum on Sandy Bridge.

+Rep. In real world using CLU on both interfaces DIE-IHS and IHS-WaterBlock vs DIE-Waterblock using CLU (AKA direct die) what real world difference in temps could I expect in the following scenario? Considering let's say a 600W capable WC loop (e.g. RX360 with push-pull low speed fans on a sigle D5 pump with a high-end waterblock) while trying to hit 4.8Ghz+ assuming 1.325v.

What monitoring are you using as OCCT is the only program available that is able to give accurate temps for Haswell at the moment.

My overclock is now 100% stable (24H Prime95 blend stable). The CPU Input Voltage was the missing link. I couldn't get 4.5 GHz even with 1.45 volts. Now I'm stable at 4.5 GHz with 1.38 volts and with CPU Input Voltage at 1.89 volts.

I don't have a decent chip but I managed to solve the mystery (At least in this case) by increasing the CIV from 1.75 to 1.89. With further tweaking/testing I can probably bring the CIV down even further but for a quick and dirty overclock, 1.89 is what I used.

I'm fairly new to overclock, what is dirty OC mean? You get stable but you could lover voltage and still be stable? What Kind of score you get at 4.5 vs a 3770k? It's around the 4.7-4.8 ghz mark right?
