Well, thanks! My mainboard doesn't show me the current voltages, it shows only the current Vccin and names it Vcore... That may be the problem of my cache not going so high, With 1.275 it might look somewhat different biggrin.gif

I'm in a similar boat as you regarding temps, setup, and voltages. I too don't have a great 4770K.

Right now I have an L311B chip (from memory) de-lidded using the blade method.
Antec Kuhler 920
Gryphon TUF Z87 which arrived with BIOS 0311 and updated to the latest
Corsair DDR3-1600mhz 9-9-9-24, run at both 1600 and 1333mhz
CLu between IHS and die, and Vaseline covering the surface mount resistors. Hey everyone loves Vaseline smile.gif
Arctic Ceramique 2 between IHS and Kuhler 920

My chip is at 1.29 volts at 4.4Ghz. I can't run the AVX LinX or IBT binaries at this speed in Win 7 x64 SP1. Temps (even after de-lidding) hit 100C within 30 seconds and the chip throttles and it fails the test soon after.

I don't know why the AVX binaries hit this chip so hard. Power consumption with only the board, Kuhler, OCZ Vertex2 and built-in HD4600 graphicsand two sticks of 4GB hit nearly 230 watts at 1.35 volts and still no stability. Pretty crazy. Evan at 4.4 @ 1.29 or 1.30V I'm seeing over 200 watts power usage on my Kill-A-Watt.

Prime95 is fine, I always start with 256 size FFTs and I saw a temperature reduction of around 12-14 celsius (going from memory) from pre-de-lid from 94 celsius down to 81-82 for the CPU package in HWinfo.

By way of comparison, my 3770K at 1.38V de-lidded with a Kuhler 620 runs 4.9 Ghz all day and can run these IBT and LinX Linpack AVX binaries at less than 80 celsius.

I will try your trick of turning up the VCCin and possibly reduce cache speeds to see where I can take. Initial Haswell seems VERY inconsistent.

Is there a way to read vcore correctly, Ive played around with my chip and it seem voltage reading isnt working on any software or that the voltage isnt aplying.

Ive set it to 1.2v and it still show 0.9 on cpuZ and OCCT

That doesn't sound right. You might want to check the application of the TIM under the die.

I've seen one undervolted then become unstable and took the mobo out after the new mobo the IPC was shot on the chip itself.

Sounds more like something was wrong with the motherboard, and maybe it was feeding unstable power to the chip, which damaged it.

very possible because thinking about it undervolting might even prolong the CPU lifespan.

As far as I know, CPU degradation is caused by electromigration. The effects of this are increase as temperature and voltage increase, so I doubt that undervolting will do much.

Something is wrong with your TIM application, Why wouldn't you use CLU on both sides of the IHS? Remember you need a tiny amount of it under the IHS which you need to spread with a scalpel or a credit card, etc.
