Haswell has clearly been designed for lower power use, since that's where the marked is at right now.
True. Expectation for Haswell may be too high and perhaps that is the reason for the negative feedback it has been receiving from the community.
Haswell claim to fame has more to do with power consumption and its 800mhz idle state. For laptop user, this is huge offering significant battery life over previous processor.
However, for us desktop user, a few watts is not going to be of any noteworthy mention.
From what I have gathered, the overclocking potential of Haswell is similar to those of Ivy...tim between die and IHS and some may overclock better than others. It has always been a silicon lottery with overclock and Haswell is no different.
If I was building a new system, I would highly consider Haswell if the price difference was close to Ivy, not so much for the improve IPC more so for the motherboard extra features.
