Killed my 4770k on 1.5v....so not its not an exaggeration.
You didn't know, you killed it using 2.2v+ VRIN, which we know is danger territory on air. How can you do that, you killed 2 chips with 2.2 VRIN and still go around saying it was the 1.5vcore, when it obviouslty wasn't (ie you killed another chip at 2.2vrin with only 1.2vcore or whatever low vcore yuou used).
I delidded my i7-4770K, CLU/CLU, using h110 with 4x high speed yates. At firstname.lastname@example.org, 1.95VRIN, I'm hitting 78C as a max temp in x264 benchmark (hotter than AIDA64, not as hot as AVX like p95). I was hitting about 86C on 1.45v AIDA64 (this is all in a not-air conditioned house in 100F hot weather, by the way).
I'll probably end up running ~1.45-1.5v.
Here was my delid:
very handy to have a vice that you can rotate!
