[Help] Screen "stuck" at BIOS - GA-X79-UP4

Thread Starter
GA-X79-UP4 Mobo
Intel i7-3820 CPU
2 x HSI 7970 GPU
16GB (4x4) DDR3 1600 RAM

Here is the full story since some of it might be relevant:

1) Successfully built computer and installed OS, but had to boot with 7870 to get video initially. I had to change settings from UEFI to Legacy in BIOS before my 7970s gave me video.

2) Added watercooling loop.

3) Mobo believed to be damaged/stopped working during this process so it was RMA'd.

4) Today I installed the new mobo, CPU, 7970s. Still no video from 7970s so I am booting from my brother's 620 (sold my 7870).

5) I now get video, but when booting and the Gigabyte BIOS screen comes up, I can't use DEL, F12, ESC, etc. to enter the BIOS or Q-Flash. Pretty sure the keyboard is working since pressing capslock or numlock adjusts the lights on the keyboard accordingly. It appears as though it's "stuck" on this screen.

6) With the SSD plugged in, it still does not progress past the BIOS screen.

I've tried 3 RAM sticks in 2 slots so I don't think it has to do with RAM.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey mate I had this problem with my EVGA GTX 780, try putting your PCI-E in Legacy Mode in the bios, you may need another graphics card to pop into the bios.

Thanks. I've read that somewhere else about the video problem, but the issue right now is that I can't even get into BIOS. I've taken my mobo and CPU into a computer shop to figure out which is broken, because I've narrowed down the issue to a hardware problem with one of the two.

How did you update the bios if it was freezing?
I put my old video card in to update bios.

Ahh so it was only crashing with a certain video card? Which one was crashing it and which did it work with?
