I reinstalled Windows today and i got this "PCI Simple Communications-controller" in Device Manager.

No drivers for it on Z87X-OC site...

I installed:

Intel INF 9.4.0.1027
Intel LAN Driver 18.5
Intel Rapid Storage Technology 12.8.0.1016
Intel USB 3.0 Driver 2.5.0.19

Am i missing something?

I went to boot the system yesterday and the front panel power switch would not power the board up. I removed the side panel
and tried the power button on the board and nothing.

Eventually I got the board to:

1. Make an immediate beep, then the fans, fan controller and water pumps fired up but no post codes. The fans remained on
until I turned off the psu.

2. After repeatedly trying to turn the PSU off and on (like 30+ times) I got it to go into this repeated cycle of trying to fire up for like
a half second, blink the post code light but immediately turn off. This cycle happened thru 9-10 times of turning the psu off an on.

After turning off the psi and resetting cmos, both #1 & #2 continued to happen.

Then, for no reason at all she booted. Got it into BIOS but it froze.

After going thru the above again it eventually booted into Windows, but froze after about 15 minutes. I have been able to get it into
windows a few times (each time after many instances of #1 and #2) but only for a short time (10-15 minutes) before freezing or
suddenly losing power as it had experienced a power failure.

I am perplexed. This rig has been rock stable for me for 3-4 months.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a fix or do I have to rma the board?

EDIT: I recently (maybe two weeks ago) updated the BIOS from F6 to F7.

I figured it out. My mobo mysteriously set one stick of ram's tRAS to 13. It's supposed to be at 30.
Everything's all good...

Hey everyone! I am having some trouble with my motherboard. When I try to restart my computer it gets stuck at 99 which is super IO initialization I believe. If I restart after the error the computer boots fine then the next time I turn it on it gets stuck at 99 again. I have tried unplugging all USB one by one including the USB devices plugged into the motherboard itself not just the back ports.

My specs are as follows:
Z87 OC Force
4770k
3x 290x's two XFX and one Powercolor
Corsair link
16 gigabyte Trident ram
ASUS wireless AC adapter

As best I can tell everything works, sometimes with crossfire enabled the computer crashes but I am not sure if this is a driver problem with AMD or if its part of the boot lockup at stage 99.

Is there a file created that may help point me in the right direction when the bios hangs?

Thanks for any help and or advice in advance. I apologize if I didn't include enough info, I am new to all of this. redface.gif

Edit: I forgot to mention I tried upgrading the bios to F8 and that didn't help either.

sorry to bring an offtopic one more time but I need you opinion:

this is SS from the MSI Z87 MPOWER MAX AC:

are all the fan headers PWM controlled or just the CPU_FAN 1 + 2 ?

thanks

I'm running my ram with the XMP profile, if i want to change to 1T but keep all the other timings as per the XMP profile do i have to manually copy the timings or will the board just let me change from 2T to 1T and keep everything else the same?

Hey guys I haven't posted in here in awile cuz I haven't had any problems. Just noticed when I try to put my EK CSQ 7970 waterblock in the bottom slot. The block wont insert all the way into the PCIE. All the headers are blocking it {HDAUDIO USB case650d power ground and such and some of my fans)

Is my only hope using the power button on the board and audio from the back and a fan controller?

OC Force by the way also on F7 BIOS for months which seemed fine till I got a hi res monitor and realized I can't access the HD menu

I ran into a little issue.

I swapped my Videocard and Soundcard around to get some better overall spacing. But now it says my Videocard is running at only 1x on Gen3, even when telling GPU-Z to render. The same shows in Zotac Firestorm.

I'm using the normal Z87X-OC with Bios F7.

- Videocard is in PCIEX8 (Third orange PCI-E Slot)
- Soundcard is in PCIEX1_1 (The only black 1x Slot)

Bios is set to look for a Videocard in PCI-E Slot 3 first. And the PCI-E Mode is set to Gen3.

EDIT:

It's working after a complete shutdown. It now shows 8x 3.0 as it should.
