If you can please give me the exact memory model that would be great.

Yeah thats about right, doesn't mention why just says best for most overclocking situations lol
Heres the memory information for ya...

I just tweaked LLC to keep VRIN around 1.8-1.82, left ram at 1333 and dropped vcore to 1.280 and passed 10 runs on IBT Very High.
Max temp was 91'C on the 2nd core so cutting it close, but it was IBT lol.
Gunna run aida64 overnight and hope for the best! (Getting 70-74'C max load temps in that)

edit: just noticed cpu-z says I have the sticks in slots 2 and 4... They are actually in the orange ram slots on the board.

yea that is fine, the DIMMs were rotated 180 degrees compared to Z77 to reduce on die latency of the IMC, it is one of the reasons memory OC on Z87 is so strong. Orange slots are the ones you want first, but you can also try black slots if it makes you feel better biggrin.gif yea it is a bit older kit, i have the 2x2gb version of it which is single sided hynix, i bet yours is double sided hynix of the same make, its also XMp ver 1.2, 1.3 is Z77 XMP, and that should be okay with Z87.

I'm with you self_slaughter, trying to get to 4.5 is so aggravating!

I was tweaking and testing all day trying to get to 4.5, eventually got it stable at 1.30v but the temps were ridiculous (same with the voltage)! My first core with Aida64 was reaching 98-100c! Can't wait for your guide Sin, been trying to get my system stable but no avail frown.gif. Now I'm just trying to for 4.4 stable and leave it there until I figure how to get higher clocks stable.

Does XMP affect stability and overclocks? I been using the 1866 XMP profile for my Dominator Platiniums. When I did it with my 3820, it was fine and dandy but it seems from reading here that it's a hit and miss~

Any tips on tweaking and getting stable Sin? Would love from the pro biggrin.gif

Winning!

9 hours into aida and still plugging along happily!
In my case anyway it was either the XMP profiles on my ram or just my ram itself at higher speeds.

Now the question is do I order 2x8gb 2400 platinum or 4x4gb 2666 platinum ram hahahahaha biggrin.gif

edit: and after letting it idle for 10 minutes I have a new record low clock speed.... 1.6Mhz on all four cores hahaha, hwinfo64 must be a bit glitchy on haswell still lol.

It is coming biggrin.gif I am putting some finishing touches on it. I am aiming for Monday. Have you increased the VIN? try 2v and set the LLC to Extreme. Then increase the vRing to 1.15v see if those help reduce the CPu voltage. Memory OC on this platform should be really good, I mean take a look at this:

nice job, I have the 2666C10 kit and it is fine, but honestly no need to spend that kind of money(mine was a review sample), id just get the 2400mhz kit.

Yeah I have those values on when overclocking, I'm starting to think that I didn't win the silicon lottery with my chip mad.gif

Still cant get 4.4 to stabilize, it'll just bsod after a few minutes to a hour with stress testing at Aida64. My settings are:

Uncore ratio: 40
C1E/C3/C6/C7/CPU thermal monitor/EIST: disabled
Memory settings are on XMP -- 1866 @ 1.50v 9-10-9-27 timings
LLC is on extreme
VRIN: 2v
Vcore: 1.275v
VRING: 1.2v
System Agent Voltage: +0.200v
CPU I/O Analog Voltage: +0.200v
CPU I/O Digital Voltage +0.200v

Am I doing something wrong? frown.gif

try leaving the CPU IO digita and analog to auto, and take down the system agent voltage, there is no need to push it for 1866 and try manually increasing DRAM voltage to 1.6v see if that helps.

@Hachi-chan
Just to exclude problem sources, you could try to run the RAM at 1600, lower uncore and set IO A+D to auto.

Also, if you use the iGPU, raising it's voltage/lowering the clock might help too.

Oh, if you use the new AIDA with AVX support, then your voltage might actually be too low. Even by default the adaptive voltage setting from Intel raises the voltage by something like 0.5v every time AVX instructions are used.

You might want to test without AVX first using an older Prime95 for example.

@Sin0822 Whats up with that big voltage boost for AVX by Intel? Do you have a good explanation for that?

Thanks Sin and BrainSplatter, did adjust my settings to both of your suggestions and as well turned off the iGPU, managed to stabilize at 1.75v biggrin.gif
