Hi Sin et al, new to the forum. I tried getting some help at Tom's and was accosted apparetnly for not knowing enough. Anyway, I have been searching and searching for an OC guide that uses my hardware that will be easier for me to understand. I bought the Z87X-UD3H instead of the UD4H because I compared the two on the GB website and couldn't find even one difference save the color. Anyway, I am going to be using a 4670K on the UD3H with a Corsair H60 cooler. I'm looking for a guide to get me (a first time OCer) started on the path to overclocking. Even though I was as polite as possible, I haven't even been able to get anyone over at Tom's to help me with a starting point for vCore and multiplier using the H60. Most of the guides were written YEARS ago with old benchmark software and using SB chips. I have earnestly searched for OC guides but haven't found one that I can understand. I'm not a noob to computer building, but I am very weak on software and understanding what the settings are actually DOING so that I can conceptualize the process. Hopefully I'll find a good GB specific guide that I can follow along with that will make sense, and maybe even find someone willing to take me under their wing remembering what it was like the first time they tried to OC.

Anyway, thanks to Sin for your hard work and sharing your knowledge with the rest of us.

Yo.

Quick and dirty.

Set multiplier to 43, set vcore to 1.2v and Prime 95 to see if it's stable. Everything else auto.

if it fails, try bumping vrin to 2.0 and ring to 1.15 and try again.

If it passes, bump multiplier to 44.

Should be enough to get you started!

yea follow what noodle said, if it doesn't work then keep posting here and users here are very helpful.

You should also raise LLC to Extreme or Turbo. If you want the CPU to always stay at max multiplier then you can disable EIST, C1E, and all the other C states under hyperthreading or the core numbers under advanced CPU settings. Don't touch any of the turbo limits, they should be maxed out on auto.

Awesome. Thanks Noodle, I'll give those settings a try and post back with the results. I am waiting on my PSU to come in the mail then I should be able to get started building.

Just for FYI, I've had a lot of problems with corrupted bios on my UD5H.
Very problematic trying to run more than 2 or 3 drives.....
Suddenly it won't boot and one or more drives won't show up in the BIOS and I have to go through a long process of clearing CMOS/disconnecting and reconnecting drives to have them recognized in the BIOS.
Running F6e on both BIOS.
