Windows 8: Computer screen staying black after I wake up computer from sleep

I had Windows 7 until about a week ago. I would put my computer in sleep mode, all the fans would shut off and the computer would be like it was turned off. I would press a key or move the mouse and it would immediately show the screen that I was looking at before I put the computer in sleep mode.

Now, I have Windows 8. When I put my computer in sleep mode, it does everything it did before, but when I press a key or move my mouse, the fans start, I see the motherboard show CPU temperature and everything just like before but the monitor screen stays black. I've tried waiting, moving moving the mouse and everything but the screen stays black. I either have to manually reset the computer to get a picture or ctrl+alt+del twice to restart it.

Anyone have any idea how I can fix this? Thanks.

Did you try and update your graphic drivers to the latest version? And may I know what your graphics card is? I've heard a lil' bit about such issues. My windows 8 on booting up goes black screen. Then I do crtl + art + del and sign out and sign back in. Works most of the time for me. When it doesn't, I just reboot. Try doing that!

Cheers

You wouldn't happen to be running Lucid would you? My machine did the same thing while trying to run that. Just a shot in the dark. Also check things that are plugged in via usb. I've had it hang on a black screen with certain things plugged into usb 3 ports (if you have any of those). Windows 8 seems to be a little pickier about that too in my experience.

I just installed Windows 8 and got the latest Drivers available right after installing. I have an EVGA GTC 580 graphics card. Pressing ctrl+alt+del does not do anything unless I press it twice to reset the computer.

When I was installing my Mobo drivers, I saw a driver called "Lucid" but I never installed it. I don't think I have anything plugged into the USB3 ports at all but Ill check to make sure once I get home.
