PC wont post after upgrading RAM

Hi!

I currently have 2x4gb Corsair Vengeance RAM installed and everything was fine. Then I ordered 2x8gb Crucial Ballistix LP (got them cheap).

Both have 9-9-9-24 timings are at 1600MHz, but when installed together PC does not go to even BIOS. Just powers off and then again starts powering up and then powers off (cycle continues)

I have tried the 2 new sticks and they work fine, tried in two different configs.

But with all 4, no boot frown.gif

My system specs:
Core i5 2500K
MSI Z68-GD 55 G3

Has anyone had any luck with this combination before. Should I just give up now?

Thanks!

Try mixing them 8,4,8,4. if is 4 ram slots.
Also if your 4gb sticks are lower frequency your 8gb will get cut.

I would just use the 8Gb instead of mixing them, 8gb is good enough.

Yes, I have tried both configs: 8,4,8,4 and 4,8,4,8 didn't work.

Both sets work fine at 1600MHz on their own. Only when combined nothing works.

Just cleared the CMOS, same problem, does not boot, in the same cycle of power on/off, have to manually turn off using the PSU switch.

Not really sure, but what are the dram volt for each set? Maybe they run different? Try and set it at 1.65 if 1 of the sets says that it is rated to run at. Also maybe the ballistic set is not tested and able to run in that board?

I think thats the problem. The Ballistix is this, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148663 which is 1.35V
other set is this, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345 which is 1.5V

I cant even enter BIOS to set the voltage, I tried booting with one set plugged in and setting voltage to 1.5 then plugging all together, didnt work.

Guess its just not gonna work.

Mismatching ram is really a may or may not work situation. I would just use the 2x8g Ballistix, unless you can return it for a different set.

Yeah, tried my luck I guess.

Just gonna keep the 2x8gb for now, and try to sell the older set.
