Any way to make my GPU letterbox 4:3 resolution input instead of stretching it?

Thread Starter
I'm trying to play some old games that only work in 4:3 resolutions and I'd like to play them with the 4:3 portion of my monitor letterboxed, rather than stretched to fill my widescreen monitor as they typically do.

I believe my nvidia card I used to have did this by default.

The card is an unlocked 6950 2GB.

It's something in the CCC I assume?

ccc -- > gpu scaling --> keep aspect ratio

That should do it.

Cool! is there something in the Nvidia control panel to do this as well? I was trying to do the same thing on my laptop.

This should be the way to do it, i sometimes use it to play games at lower than full-screen res without it stretching and it works for my monitor. Setting it to the monitor and not gpu seems to cause it to not work at all, but perhaps it might for you.

Hello. I really hate to ressurect such an old thread, but I have a similar issue with the guy that started this thread, but I have AMD. I tried to do the Image Scaling, but I'm unable to click "maintain Aspect Ratio". I'm not sure if it's my monitor? Does connecting with DV-I cables verses HDMI have something to do with it?
